Jacques Cousteau and innumerable underwater adventurers have described the Sea of Cortez as “The World’s Richest Sea.” This is especially true of the waters that caress the southern tip of the Baja. The diversity in fish and marine mammals that congregate here is unmatched anywhere else in the earth’s undersea domain. Three major ocean currents collide to create the unique and varied life that abounds in these fruitful, warm seas. SCUBA Diving Tours and Excursions in Cabo San Lucas are now one of the most attractive aquatic eco-adventures in the destination. We take you to the best locations in the region where guests will discover various coral reefs, thousands of species of fish, and even a sunken cargo ship. * Sand Falls (90-120 feet): Discovered by Jacques Cousteau, the sand falls start at 90ft and descend to 120ft. It has steep sand banks cascading into the canyon with many tropical fish. * Sea Lion Colony (30-70 feet): Join sea lions in their natural habitat. This dive gives even the novice diver an excellent opportunity to join and observe the sea lions. * Land’s End (25-75 feet): Located on the point of the Baja Peninsula where the Pacific Ocean joins the Sea of Cortez, sea lions, morays and huge sea bass are common denizens of this unique site. Just past the final pinnacle lies a shipwreck that forms a natural aquarium for scuba divers and sea lions to play in! The combination of ocean and sea currents coupled with the Northern Equatorial Countercurrent helps the spawning of plankton in bountiful populations. This staple of life attracts the entire food chain, allowing various species to benefit in over-abundance. Experiencing the wonders of the deep is often said to be a unique experience, but SCUBA diving in Los Cabos can best be described as indescribable.
