We had booked a private food tour starting at 330pm. As part of the booking process, we had a Zoom call to go over what we wanted to accomplish, and what types of food/wine items we wanted to taste and avoid. Our guide was Ricardo Leite, who we met at the north side of the food market. The tour exceeded our expectations. The food items were excellent, and pre-arranged with the various locations. ((For many places, Ricardo would call ahead so that they would be ready shortly after our arrival.). In addition to the great food, he showed or pointed out a number of the historic sites along the way, and gave us excellent suggestions as to places to visit, including restaurants. We highly recommend this food tour.

Angelo was awesome. He was the mayor of Porto! Knew everyone!! Lisa and I enjoyed his company while touring craft brew houses throughout Porto. Talked beer, music and family. It was a great way to end our trip to a wonderful city! Beer and food was pretty awesome too!! Highest ratings for the tour and our guide Angelo!!!

This was a wonderful tour! Piadro (Peter) was a fantastic guide. I love that the tour was very small, six of us plus the guide. This made for an intimate experience. The places we went to were off the beaten path, we never would have found them on our own. The owners of each establishment were welcoming and friendly. And, certainly, the beer and food were delicious! Thank you helping us enjoy Porto!

Our culinary adventure with Taste Porto began at the entrance of the Mercearia do Bolhão, where we met our guide, André. Shortly after our introduction, we were whisked away to a private tasting room, surrounded by wine bottles and hidden behind a fine meat purveyor. In this unique setting, André would dash out to one of the many stalls within the market and bring back fresh items, allowing us to experience the flavors right from their source. This was not your typical group food tour; it was a private tour that offered a more intimate and tailored culinary experience. If you don't care for group tours and can pay a bit more, it's totally worth the price for the exclusivity and personalized attention from one of their experienced guides. Throughout the tour, we walked through the market and were warmly greeted by all the purveyors, thanks to André’s introductions, enhancing our connection to the local food community. From there, André proved to be an exceptionally knowledgeable and charming guide, taking us through the heart of Porto's gastronomic scene. Each stop brought its own unique flavors and stories, making this multi-hour journey not just a tour, but a deep dive into the local culture and cuisine. We started with some exquisite charcuterie featuring **Salpicão de porco preto** and **Chouriço de porco preto**, where the depth of flavor achieved from the black pig's marination and smoking process was simply unmatched. Not to forget the **Linguiça de porco preto**, whose hints of garlic and paprika perfectly complemented the robust **MOB Alfrocheiro** red wine from Dão. Our taste buds were further delighted at Gazela with the iconic **Cachorrinho**, a Porto-style hot dog that is a must-try for anyone visiting the city. The simplicity yet perfection of this dish left us eager for more. Next, we indulged in some heavenly pastries at Confeitaria Moura. The **Seminarista** and **Limonete** were standout treats, blending textures and flavors that dance delightfully on the palate. Our adventure continued at Fábrica de Cedofeita, where the **Bifana** sandwich, paired with a refreshing **Tropical IPA** and a crisp **Douro** white wine, provided a satisfying savory balance to our sweet indulgences. Lastly, Popina introduced us to the rustic and hearty **Alheira** and **Favas com chouriço**, accompanied by the excellent **Pombal do Vesúvio** red wine, rounding off our tour on a high note. This tour with André and Taste Porto was not just a meal; it was a comprehensive, enriching experience that showcased the best of Porto’s rich culinary heritage. I cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking to explore the true flavors of this beautiful city.

His has to be the best food tour we have ever done. Angelo was a fabulous guide. He was so incredibly knowledgeable about Porto and the foods and wine we got to sample and he had the whole group laughing constantly. We went to special little places we could never have found n our own. We will absolutely do this tour again next time we’re in Porto

Great tour, went to places we would not have known about. Beer was great and Andrea the guide was very knowledgeable. It’s a lot of beer to drink in 3 hours (7) so it may be better if it was a bit longer. The tapas was only two types, double quantity at two places, suggestion is to have 2 more different ones for more experience. Will recommend the tour for anyone who likes craft beer.

We asked Taste of Porto to create a custom food tour for our group of 6, and it was fantastic. Sergio (our terrific guide) led us through a delicious and wide ranging overview of culinary Portugal from fruit and cheeses to sardines and sandwiches (with, of course, appropriate wines and ports to accompany everything). We booked it to begin mid afternoon, so it became a strolling drinks and dinner party. We enthusiastically recommend Taste of Porto and the kind of cultural experience you can actually chew!

We had a ball with Andre on this tour. We learned quite a bit about the growing craft beer scene in Porto. We enjoyed trying the (many) different beers and the fun places he took us to.

Angelo guided our food tour. He was super relaxed and felt our vibe perfectly. The food tour was more than worth it anyway. But because of Angelo it was one of the (many) highlights of our visit to Porto. By the way, he also gave us a lot of great tips on nightlife in the city (and made some nice pics).

We booked a private food tour with the couple we are traveling with. Andrea was our guide and you couldn’t imagine anyone more knowledgeable, entertaining and accommodating. We visited the Bohlao food market and two restaurants. We had wine paired with each of our seven stops…which included ones for cake and espresso, cheese, fruit, charcuterie, canned fish and then two restaurants, one for sandwiches and the other for cod fritters and tomato rice (really delicious). I am a vegetarian and he made sure to provide delightful substitutes for anything that included meat. Andre regaled us with information, stories and experiences which helped us really understand Portugal. His personal touch made for a wonderful experience which flew by…. We were all stunned that 3+ hours had passed. Highly recommend this experience and if possible ask for Andrea!!

Pedro was an excellent guide. His knowledge of the craft beer scene in Porto was excellent. And the foods that the beer was paired with were really pretty good. I did not care for the wild pig too much. Pedro was fun and energetic. It helps when the people you meet on the tour are just as fun.

This was one the best food, wine, port tours we have ever taken and it's all due to the incredibly knowledgeable and fun guide Pedro. His background is in theater and part of being a performer is being able to read your audience and deliver an exceptional tour. We hit all the best places in Porto - the Balhou Market, the oldest pastry shop - Moura, the best Portugese restaurant - Taxca and wine/port store - Oli. This tour was our first introduction to Porto and it was supper. We highly recommend this tour and we hope you are lucky enough to have Pedro. Salud!

Our family of 4 (including hard to please teens) did the food tour of downtown Porto and Bolhão market and absolutely loved it. The food (and wine!) was all great, portions not too big, walking just right, and our guide Angelo shared interesting information all along the way. We’ve done a few food tours in different cities, this will be one of our favourites for sure. Highly recommended.

This tour was one of our favorite parts of Porto. André was an amazing guide. When my partner and I did the tour, we were the only people so it was extremely personalized. We loved learning about some of the history of Porto, and the local spots and preferences. André also gave some amazing recommendations, and on the tour all of the beer and food was delicious! Although it ls a bit pricey, it’s unlike any traveling experience I’ve ever had and worth every cent. Thank you André and Taste Porto!
