My sister and I enjoyed a leisurely 2-hour guided ride through the foothills outside of San Miguel. I am not an experienced rider and was immediately put at ease by Beth and her caballeros who accompanied us on our ride. Will plan to go back when my sister returns for a visit and there is water in the arollo. Maybe next time I will get up the gumption to trot like she did! The ride is followed up with a delicious and filling traditional meal complete with aguas refrescas. Thank you Beth for a delightful experience. Oh and besides your water bottle, hat, long pants and comfortable shoes - you might want to bring a bandana especially if it is the dry season.

My spouse and I have taken the morning ride two times with our nieces and their partner. I was a little reluctant at first because of previous tour experiences (in the USA) that were not enjoyable. We had two trail options and picked the one with water crossings, hills and valleys. It was fun and relaxing while we toured the countryside and mountain views. Beth made sure we had a great ride (and totally safe). Afterwards, we enjoyed some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten as we relaxed for lunch. I could eat a whole meal of their cheese quesadillas. We are planning to return in March to take the camping tour with another niece. Happy Trails!

Beautiful sunset ride on wonderful horses in the countryside of San Miguel de Allende. The caballeros were so attentive of our needs for 2.5 hours. The ranch dinner after was delicious. Highly recommend this experience!

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE – AVOID AT ALL COSTS! My oh my, where do I even begin? The experience I had with "Leisurely Country Horseback-riding" in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Buckle up because you won't believe the series of misadventures I encountered. Firstly, I booked this excursion on January 5th, 2024, for a ride scheduled on the very next day (that is: today, January 6th). Considering the short notice, I tried to give the owner, Beth Kaestner, the benefit of the doubt regarding her initial rudeness. Little did I know that this was just the tip of the iceberg. Beth promised a picturesque journey, picking me up from downtown San Miguel and transporting me to her supposed paradise of a ranch at Boca de la Cañada. On arrival, I was greeted by cowboys who, while charming, lacked English proficiency. Special shoutout to Reyes, a charismatic cowboy, but sadly, their "training" on horse riding was laughably inadequate. I found myself playing interpreter for fellow riders, aiding them with instructions that should have been provided clearly by the staff. Post-ride, we were treated to a delectable ranch-style meal. Credit where it's due, the food was fantastic. But the real chaos began as Beth handed me her card, signaling the end—or so I thought—of my tour. I questioned Beth about the horses' safety and proper documentation for the tour; she blatantly lied and said everything was in order. It wasn't long before our journey took an illegal turn. En route back to San Miguel de Allende, we were pulled over by police officers, revealing Beth's brazen operation without the necessary permits. She began to panic, her deceit unraveling as I found myself caught in her web of lies. Despite my profession as a lawyer, even I wasn't prepared for the audacity with which Beth demanded I lie to the authorities. Not only that. She DEMANDED I asked the officers HOW MUCH A BRIBE WOULD BE!!??. This woman shows no respect for the country, the language nor its laws. After the police officers incredibly said no, i found out she was utterly uninsured for the trips on a high speed highway. She does not have the proper plates for her cares (which was why she was detained in the first place), but she was also operating without the required certifications. The situation escalated as Beth's unpreparedness became glaringly evident, culminating in her vehicle being impounded, leaving us stranded in the scorching heat. Despite my fluency in both English and Spanish, I became Beth's reluctant translator, a role I never signed up for. She showed utter disregard for the local language, forcing me to bridge the communication gap during her tense standoff with the police. Her disregard for protocol, safety, and basic decency left me flabbergasted. Beth's desperate pleas for assistance, coupled with her blatant disregard for local laws and customer safety, left a sour taste in my mouth. She failed to offer any compensation or discount for the chaos she inflicted upon me, focusing solely on her impending fine and lost vehicle. She was extremely rude, demanding help instead of asking for it. I imagine the stress of the moment caused that. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, a taxi arrived to whisk us away. Even then, Beth's negligence continued, directing the taxi driver to a completely different destination to the one I requested to be dropped off. I guess this was because she had other clients waiting to ride on her uninsured tour. In conclusion, "Leisurely Country Horseback-riding" and its owner, Beth Kaestner, are a disaster waiting to happen. Her reckless behavior, illegal operations, and utter lack of professionalism make this a ride you'd be wise to avoid. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a genuine, safe, and lawful experience. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! There are far better, legal (and cheaper) options in San Miguel to do a Horseback Ride Tour just as this one.

An amazing ride through beautiful countryside on beautifully trained, surefooted horses. Super appreciated Beth as a hostess and the cowboy's confidence and experience. This ride is perfect for any experience level!! The ride is tailored to making sure each person gets what they want out of the ride from walk to trot to canter!! As an advanced rider I have to say thanks so much to Beth and crew for a wonderful ride. And thanks to the kitchen crew for an excellent lunch to end the morning <3

We had a wonderful time riding in the hills outside of San Miguel de Allende. The staff were excellent from start to finish - arrived on time for pickup, took care of all needs of riders with different experience levels, answered all questions, were attentive on the trail for our safety, and prepared a delicious home-made lunch. The ride was a good 3 hours long through beautiful trails, crossing rivers, seeing views of mountains and canyons. If you like riding, outdoor adventures, and fun company, don't hesitate to book this trip. It will be one of the highlights of my time in San Miguel.

We had a great time with Beth and the cowboys! They were very knowledgeable about the area and led us on a great trail. We can’t wait to do it again next summer!

The horses were well trained. It is a long ride which we enjoyed. We did sunset tour which had beautiful views. A wonderful experience! The guides were friendly and helpful and dinner afterwards was a wonderful local treat. I highly recommend for people with some riding experience given the rugged terrain

The Half Day Trail Riding was a wonderful experience! Three of us did this, and we all enjoyed it tremendously. We did the afternoon tour, and had a fabulous meal after the ride. We were picked up by Victor, exactly on time, and he was a wonderful guide. We enjoyed everything about this experience. My 22-year old granddaughter said that this excursion was the favorite activity she did during our 9 day trip to San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City. The horses were great, and the 3 trail guides (Victor and two Mexican horsemen) were fantastic! Highly recommend!

Everything on this trip ran like a well-oiled machine. Beth picked us up in town where we were staying at an Air BNB rental. We drove out to the Ejido on the Southern outskirts of town and met the horses and cowboys. The horses were well behaved, sure footed and in great physical condition (obviously well cared for). Our family of three adults were joined by another young couple making the excursion. Two out of the 5 had some riding experience and it was one person's first day to get on a horse. No problem for Beth; she provided clear instructions to all and gave extra attention staying closely with the first day rider for comfort and safety. There were four guides riding with our group of five. We travelled through the beautiful high-desert country side climbing and descending and overlooking some of the canyon areas along the Virgen river. It was the dry season when we went, I would like to do it again during or after the rainy season when the desert comes to life and there would be some running water in the arroyos. After the ride we had a delicious and fresh meal prepared by ladies from the Ejido. A great time was had by all.

The ride was amazing. Both cowboys were great and accommodating with each of our riding skills. Great views and dinner was wonderful. The only downside was that it was the dry season. Would definitely book again.

Beth is a consummate hostess. The wranglers made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. They were even kind enough to let me and one cowboy go ahead running as I am experienced rider- and I didn’t ask. The scenery is beautiful and much very good. Will go again

A terrific experience for our family on many levels. The cowboys and villagers were very welcoming. The ride took us through beautiful countryside with myriad types of foliage and dramatic gorges and scenery. It was also great to ride through the little hamlets and see how families live in ranch and farm country outside of San Miguel. The hearty dinner served after the ride was made with local produce, meats and cheeses and was absolutely delicious. Finally, we were lucky in that we had a great guide accompany us -- a retired gentleman who had a very successful career in the United States and now lives in SMA. He was extremely interesting and informative.

Very enjoyable- from our pick up driver who also joined the ride to our to cowboys who went along and accommodated all our requests. I have not been on a horse in 30 years and they made it a piece of cake. Food was plentiful and delicious. We really enjoyed all of it. Valerie

From the time we got picked up to the time we got dropped off, the service was the very best. The trails were 100% legit, the cowboys, the guide and the horses were all exceptional. After the trail ride we were given a buffet style lunch which was very delicious. We had no experience on horses but didn’t need it. Don’t think twice take the tour!!

From start to end this was a great experience. Beth was easy to talk with and responded quickly. Since I have horses at home and ride a lot I was worried that it might just be a beginner experience, but it exceeded all my expectations - for speed, quality of mounts and all around enjoyable time. We were there with another family that had less experience so they were able to separate us so that we could go on a faster ride. Our guides were great- they checked in with us often about the speed and if we wanted to go faster, but they were safe and took care of their animals. I was also happy to see well-fed and happy horses that knew their job well. The equipment was also of good quality and comfortable for a trail ride.

We had a great day with Beth and two cowboys that work with her. The horses were healthy and happy, and the riding is suitable for complete beginners. Beautiful high desert scenery and dramatic canyons. We ended the day with a delicious lunch and fun memories.

This was a very well organized trail ride. It is an excellent way to see the countryside west of San Miguel. We enjoyed seeing the amazing Sabino (ancient cypress) tree. Our 3 guides, Reyes, Victor and Daniel were all knowledgeable, patient and excellent horsemen. They were very understanding of our individual riding levels and tailored the riding pace to our individual needs. You can also practice your Spanish or communicate in English. The communication with Beth and the pickup and drop off in San Miguel were flawless.
