The Megalithic Observatory and the ceremonial site of Kokino is about 3, 800 years old. Special stone markers were discovered to monitor the movement of the Sun and the Moon.

The tour agency was extremely accommodating for me on this trip! The night before my trip I decided I wanted to also hike in the morning. Thankfully my guide Suzana was also a hiker and we made it happen. We started off the morning with a hike up to millennium cross and then went to Kokino which I found so fascinating. There were only a few other people out there so we had the place to ourselves as we explored the area and I learned some of the history of this area. The rock formations made for some pretty interesting views in contrast with the surroundings too, lovely photo opportunities. And the Osogovski monastery… wow! Beautifully nestled in gorgeous mountainous fall foliage, it was definitely a treat! My guide and driver were amazing as always. This was the perfect final day to close out my trip. Thank you!The trips was great and the guide was very knowledgeable on both history and culture. The driver was very good as well.

We loved our tour to Osogovski and the ancient observatory. I especially loved our delicious traditonal meal on the lovely terrace at the monastery. Our tour guide, Susanna (not sure if this is how she spells her name) was informative, flexible and told us some great stories! She was one of favorite guides on our trip to Macedonia.
