Really great tour! Our tour guide was Elena and she was wonderful, very fun to talk to and great putting everyone at ease with each other. She showed us a few random places in town we wouldn't have otherwise seen, in addition to the delicious food. Plenty of options for vegetarians, there was only one meal I had to change up (souvlaki just without the meat). It was a good amount of food to test out without stuffing yourself, but with the souvlaki as an actual meal. A very fun morning! Definitely recommend

Haris took us to out of the way places and showed us great food. he was knowledgeable and very engaging. It was a fantastic morning in Athens and really added to our trip there. the group was small, juts four people, and we spend a great low key 3 hours, walking around the centre of Athens, visiting great places. Haris was an especially loevely guide.

Elena was very knowledgeable about the food (and there was a lot of it) and its place in Greek life. It was great to see three different areas of Athens and try the local delicacies. There was so much food to try, definitely don’t need breakfast or lunch! Elena also shared some tips and hints to enjoy Athens. You will finish this tour with a full belly!

This was a really fun tour to do with our teens. All the food samples were delicious and it was more food than we could eat, even with a small breakfast! Definitely come with an appetite. Exploring the neighbourhoods on foot and with Eleni’s insight was a lovely way to spend a few hours. We visited places we never would have found on our own and gained insights into typical Greek foods. Would definitely recommend.

Elissavet was our guide on this engaging tour. She was so knowledgeable about the food and places we visited. She brought us to side streets and alley ways we would never have ventured on our own. We only regret we didn't do this tour first. Highly recommended.

Elena guided us through an amazing tasting experience in Athens! We were a small group of 5 people and the experience was delicious and instructive for all of us. My kids (9 and 6) said it was the best part of their stay in Athens. Highly recommended!

My husband and I loved this walking food tour! Our guide, Elana did an amazing job explaining and teaching us about all the different Greek foods and customs! We ate many delicious Greek foods, from their traditional coffee and sweets to full meals. Elana took us to the best restaurants and shops for the freshest and highest quality ingredients. We would highly recommend this tour!

Andreas was our walking food tour guide and we loved him! He not only told us about local food (with 8 stops) but also about history as we moved throughout the city. He answered any questions we had with enthusiasm and gusto. I know it says to go hungry, but GO HUNGRY! A lot of the meals were full size! I ate so much, because it was so good! 100 % recommend to anyone who is interested!

Pavlína was very kind, thanks to her we learnt about the modern history of the city. We also tasted delicious food and drinks!

last Saturday, April 5 2024 me and my wife had the food tour with Alternative Athens. The guide was Eleni Kapiri and she was superb and lovely. her English is clear and understandable and she took us to nice places that the local people use to go. we tasted the food that the locals like. we recommend the tour and especially Eleni.

This food tour exceeded our expectations. We learned so much about Greek food, history, and culture from our guide Andreas, and got to try so many delicious foods. Andreas took us to various neighborhoods, and we got to sample what the locals eat. We brought our teenage children, and they had a great time as well. Because of the frequent stops and snacks, it didn’t feel like too much walking. I couldn’t recommend this tour more highly!

It was the best Food tour ive Experiencet so far. The food was always Great and Tasty, and you could see how they where Produced. It was just a little too much Food, but if you are in a bigger group it should be Perfect( i was with just one Family Member)

This was an excellent introduction to culinary treasures of Athens. Our tour leader, Andreas was exceptional in that he was very knowledgeable about food and also about living in Athens. We had 9 separate stops during the tour each highlighting a food specific to Athens and/or Greece. The tour offered a wonderful variety of food from virgin olive oil and bread for dipping to Greek donuts and gyros. Each vendor was chosen with care. This tour was an absolute gem and highly recommended.

This is a wonderful introduction to the culinary and cultural delights of the City of Athens and Greece . The tour includes 9 stops at food establishments in the city showcasing a variety of culinary traditions including olive oil , breads, Greece coffee, donuts, pies, hero’s. etc. Andreas our group leader also provided information on living in Greece including the joys and struggles. He is an exceptional tour guide and one of the best tour guides of the many tours we have taken in Europe. We would highly recommend this foodie walking tour while in Athens.
