What to expect
Join us for an unforgettable experience of climbing a frozen waterfall. This fun, safe, thrilling experience lets you explore places that are inaccessible to most park visitors.
This six-hour tour begins at our office in Jasper where you meet your guide and get your gear. We then travel to our climbing site: Maligne Canyon, Tangle Falls, or Edge of the World, based on the weather.
Once at the site, your guide coaches you on techniques, safety, and gear. Next? We climb!
All technical equipment included (boots, crampons, harnesses, axes, helmet)
Wear winter clothing and lots of layers (what you would wear to the ski hill)
Transportation is provided from town to the climbing site and back
All trips leave from the Rockaboo office (610 Patricia Street – upstairs). We ask participants to be ready to depart at the start time – we want to climb, not sit around the office!
Stop At:
• Rockaboo Mountain Adventures, 610 Patricia Street (upstairs), Jasper, Jasper National Park, Alberta T0E 1E0 Canada

This experience was really amazing for a person who had never done this before! Our guide Maarten was the perfect person to introduce us to this! The only reason why I rate it a 4 out of 5 was that we each only got to climb the mountain twice per person, which in my opinion was not enough for a 6 hours tour. As we had no experience it was normal that we had to be properly explained what we have to do, but the 2 hours drive in total and the gearing up made that we had less quality time on the mountain itself.Great experience with our guide Hannah. Lots of fun, safe, and educational, tailored to our skill level and interests.

No need to even read the rest of this review. Just go ahead and sign up with Rockaboo! This was my first ice climbing experience and everything went perfectly. Tim, our guide, was extremely patient, informative, and fun to be around for the entire day that he was showing us the ropes (literally). Maligne Canyon had some spots that had not completely frozen over yet, so Tim decided to take us to another area in the park (called Edge of the World). Edge of the World consists of two waterfalls that were much bigger than I originally expected, which made things challenging but also gave me a really great intro to the sport. I was accompanied by 3 other climbers (4 climbers total + guide), which I think was the perfect number of people for this area. This was also the best value option that I found in Jasper/Banff, so definitely would recommend! The next time I'm back in Jasper, I'll absolutely be using Rockaboo again!Highly recommend ice climbing with Rockaboo. I felt very safe and our guide, Tim, was very supportive. I think some of the other climbs might be easier but if you're worried about ability just get in touch with the guys when booking as they're super helpful. Bring warm gloves and your camera! Would definitely do this again! This was by far the best experience I had in Jasper! Max is a great teacher and a really knowledgeable guide, he makes sure you are safe, having fun and learning the skill of climbing. Highly recommend to everyone! We had Benjamin as our guide who was absolutely fantastic. He showed us the ropes (literally) and let us go at our own pace while shouting encouragement and tips up to us during our climbs. Would definitely recommend, and would definitely do it again!
