The city is considered the gateway to the Sahara in Morocco. It was once a caravan center on the road to Timbuktu. Today, it is an important place of trade and exchange between the sedentary population and the nomads of the desert. It is notably home to a weekly camel market, known as “Amhayrich”, which is the largest camel market in Morocco taking place only on saturday morning.

Very modest village founded by the nomade coming from far away in the desert.
After 45 min on a rough road from this village we reach the sand dunes where our camp is settled.
Once arrived at the camp, you’ll be served a well-deserved mint tea accompanied by Moroccan pastries after which you'll marvel at the sunset and the stunning spectrum of light on the golden sand dunes after which you'll return to the bivouac for dinner under a gorgeous sky full of stars accompanied by a Sahraoui music show performed by young locals around a campfire. Overnight is scheduled in a nomad tent to experience and appreciate firsthand the living conditions of the locals. The next day and after breakfast, back to the oasis again for a brief stop then continue the journey back to Agadir borrowing an alternative itinerary through the Anti Atlas Mountains for a change of scenery.

This excursion is the best we could hope for! With our dedicated guide and driver for our family, we not only had the best experience sleeping in the desert but also visited and discovered so many lovely places such as a pottery workshop, a fisherman village, souks and shops along the way! Honestly I can’t recommend this enough. We booked this trip for my birthday and the bivouac team put the special music and we danced around the camp fires till very late. What a day! Seeing the sunset from the top of sand dunes, eating a tagine under the Berber tent, watching the stars and sleeping under the warm blankets of our tent …what a treat! Thank you Mohamed for such a wonderful time and all the care and professionalism you put in this trip for us. A souvenir we’ll cherish forever 🥳🙌🤩From the moment Rachid our guide collected us at the hotel we were given an experience like none other. From the moment Rachid our guide collected us at the hotel we were given an experience like none other. We visited a pottery to see tagines and other lovely pottery being made in traditional Berber style. We had a fish tagine on Legzira beach. We chose to hire a quad for a dash up the beach to see the amazing rock arches. We visited Sidi Ifni to take photos of the panoramic beach front. We went to the beach at Tifnit just as a fishing boat had returned with a catch of tuna. My wife and a french lady Rosamund were a little unsteady on their feet and I must say Rachid was a complete gentleman in how he assisted them both. When we arrived at Le Borj in the northern Sahara desert it was a joy to rush up the dunes to photograph the sunset and just enjoy the unspoilt location. The camp as expected is not 5 star luxury but it was amazing. The food served was first class. Eating and relaxing in this traditional setting was breathtaking. The clear desert sky was so clear we saw shooting stars and the milky way. After a restful night in the tent we had breakfast and began the return to Agadir. Stopping to see silversmiths at work in Tiznit, a delicious traditional Berber lunch. A visit to a dam and reservoir broke up the journey nicely. This was an unforgettable 60th birthday treat for my wife as she spent it under the stars in the Sahara with three very nice french people, Rachid our guide, the people running the camp and me. The hospitality and friendship we were treated with was 5 star. Thank you.Accompagné de notre guide Mohammed, nous avons vécu une expérience hors du temps.
