We hired Morocco Expert Tours for an eleven-day private grand tour of Morocco. My girlfriend and I were the only travelers on this tour and simply put, this tour was amazing! Before I get into the specifics of the tour, I must say that Youssef was excellent at answering my questions and adjusting our tour to fit our needs. I have a daughter studying in Rabat and we wanted to spend four days in Rabat in the middle of the tour. Youssef suggested itinerary changes that made this possible. He also booked us a beautiful riad in Rabat for our stay there. Another thing I liked was the airport pick up and drop offs. We had a lot of luggage and our guide, Youssef, (the owner Youssef’s nephew) was more than helpful with our luggage… not only at the airport, but throughout the tour. For both legs of our tour (before and after visiting my daughter in Rabat), Youseff was our guide/driver. Youseff was very knowledgeable about all the sights and cities we visited. He would discuss history and tell us stories about Morocco. He would recommend excellent restaurants and shopping spots and was always able to modify the itinerary if we decided to see something on a whim. We also had excellent private guides in Fes, Volubilis and Marrakech, which were arranged by Youssef ahead of time. These guides showed us many of the important historical sites as well as the best places to shop… places where you can buy authentic artisan crafts, as some shops in Morocco (even in the Medinas) carry products made in China. We split our trip into two legs. The first leg included Casablanca, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Fes and Meknes, as well as some small sights along the way. Of these, Chefchaouen was probably our favorite. We only spent one night there, but I would highly recommend staying there for two nights. The Roman ruins with their tile mosaics at Volubilis were amazing and Fes has a great Medina with beautiful artisan shopping. We would love to have been able to spend more time in Meknes…next time. After a beautiful stay with my daughter in Rabat, we embarked on our second leg of the tour which included the Mid Atlas, Merzouga and the Sahara, Todra Gorge, Ouarzazate and Marrakech. The desert area was phenomenal! Everything from the overnight camel trek, to the souk in Merzouga, to the very special musical performance outside Merzouga by the Gnawan musicians was extraordinary. The Todra gorge was far more enormous than I could have imagined. The Kasbahs in the Dades Valley were fantastic and Marrakech has all the fun and freaks of a carnival, while encompassing all the history that is Morocco. Throughout the tour, the hotels and riads were always comfortable and clean; and most of the time luxurious with beautiful views. A guide/driver on a private tour can make or break the tour. Our guide, Youssef, was a gem and made our tour special and unique. He was helpful, kind, knowledgeable and adaptable to our desires. We would recommend Youssef to anybody’s tour. Thanks to both of the Youssef’s at Morocco Expert, we have knowledge and memories of Morocco that will last a lifetime! Our family of four (including two daughters, 17 and 20) just returned from a 10+ day tour of Morocco organized and hosted by Morocco Expert Tours (MET). Our family of four (including two daughters, 17 and 20) just returned from a 10+ day tour of Morocco organized and hosted by Morocco Expert Tours (MET). From the point of landing in Casablanca we were guided through this beautiful country by Youssef (the owner's nephew) with care and thoughtfulness. When deciding to travel to Morocco, we began searching for a reputable company to tour with. Because not many of our friends or relatives had traveled there before, we began with a blank slate. After many hours researching and talking to travel agents, we found ourselves reading the wonderful reviews of MET on TripAdvisor. A little skeptical, I messaged a number of the American travelers that had written reviews about MET.... we heard nothing but positive feedback. After settling on MET, Youssef in their main office was diligent about responding to my every question and concern. And true to form they handled every detail with professionalism and a personal touch. We began in Casablanca, drove through Rabat, Fes then south to the dessert. We stayed in Marrakesh and ended in Essouaria, departing from Casablanca. I would highly recommend working with MET and will use them again when we return to Morocco. Youssef our guide/ driver was informational, knowledgeable and taught us so much about the Moroccan and Berber cultures. We miss him already! Please contact me through the TripAdvisor IM if you have any questions about Morocco or our experiences.I traveled with Morocco Expert tours in mid-December on a solo trip. I traveled with Morocco Expert tours in mid-December on a solo trip. My guide, Youssef, was extremely knowledgeable about the country, the sites, and the culture, which was one of the most important aspects of the trip for me. I had the opportunity to meet many locals and experience the culture first hand - having tea with them, learning how to make tajine, understanding the Muslim religion, etc. Youssef wasn't just a guide, he was an excellent host who made me feel welcomed and very comfortable in an unfamiliar country. I have traveled to many places and this was one of the best cultural experiences I've ever had. And for anyone looking for a really good cultural experience, Morocco Expert Tours can easily make that happen with their warm hospitality and eagerness to show every traveler their amazing country. The wonderful culture, intriguing sites and impressive diverse scenery - from the fresh breezes of the ocean, to the tranquility of the stunning mountains to the awesome desert scenery (the exposure of the stars in the night sky in the desert are sure to bring on the goosebumps!) make this an all around perfect travel destination. I hope to return to Morocco again some day and will look to Morocco Expert Tours to provide me with another fantastic trip.My husband and I recently returned from a 10 day trip to Morocco, organized by MET. My husband and I recently returned from a 10 day trip to Morocco, organized by MET. We spent 7 or 8 days with our driver Amine and various guides depending upon the city. We were nervous upon arriving, as we were not sure who was to meet us at the airport, but there was Amine waiting with a sign in the receiving area. Driving in Morocco is a real trip, as is simply crossing the street, but we felt very safe and in good hands with Amine at the wheel. Through our 8 days together, Amine was able to provide us with a better understanding of everyday life in Morocco. He was genuinely concerned about us and our experience in Morocco. He wanted to ensure we were enjoying Morocco to the fullest. Our guides provided us with cultural and historical perspectives. Guides are a must in the maze of The Medinas. We learned more about the Muslim faith and their customs. We saw charity among the people there every day. MET provided guides where we needed them, Fes, Marrakesh, and Volubilis. Morocco is a beautiful country, and the people are kind, welcoming and generous. Thank you MET.We were a group of 2 couples, with the wonderful Hassan Benhirt as our guide. We were a group of 2 couples, with the wonderful Hassan Benhirt as our guide. We highly recommend Journeys International and Morocco Expert Tours to anyone wanting to visit Morocco. The places they chose for us to visit were fabulous. Virtually every day was a feast of amazing sights, sounds, tastes - and the extraordinarily hospitable Moroccans. The riads and a couple of hotels we stayed in were amazing, each in their own way, each a very different experience. Morocco is beauty upon magic upon enchantment - and wonderful people. Some of our favorite experiences: our entire magical day in Chefchaouen, including hiking to the Spanish Mosque and our impossibly lovely Riad Dar Echchaouen, including our waiter Mamoun; lunch at the beautiful Riad d'Or in Meknes; the Fez medina (especially the tile and leather workshops, including amazing leather dyeing yard), the Qarawiyyin Mosque and Library; the unimaginably beautiful Riad Salam Fes, including the charming Mustapha; our drive from Fez across the Middle and High Atlas Mountains and all the stops we made along the way - the Barbary Apes, all the panoramic views, the opportunity to visit with a nomad family (a lovely mother and her adorable little boy), the Ziz Valley; Riad Nezha in Merzouga, including Said; our tour around the irrigation of the date palm area and wells; the fossil area in the desert; tea with nomads, the concert by Bambara in the Gnaoua town Khamlia and "Berber pizza," Lake Sriji en Merzouga; riding camels in the desert out to our camp, where we climbed silky sand dunes at sunset and moonrise, and saw more stars than we've seen in years; our Todra Gorges day, including the stop at the fossil workshop and climbing down into the Dry Wells to see how the irrigation worked underground, and the eye-popping panoramic views and gorges; Monkey Toe rock formations; the astounding Kasbah Amridil in Skoura; climbing through the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah (where the Glauoi people live); the phenomenal "snake highway;" the wonderful Ilham Elhidoudi and her sister Ghislane and cousins who run Riad Gallery 49; Marrakech's Saadien tombs, the Ben Youssef Coranique School (especially seeing all the dorm rooms of students so long ago!), the El Bahia Palace; the unbelievably beautiful Majorelle Garden, with its Berber Museum; the goats in the argan trees and seeing women grinding the nuts with very heavy stone grinders; our lunch, climb, and hike up to one of the waterfalls of the High Atlas Mountains. And always, always seeing people walking along roadsides, including children walking back and forth to school; learning about the Berber language and alphabet, and about the agriculture and people's lives. Our guide Hassan was a big part of what made our trip great. Hassan is a rare combination of fun, knowledge, warmth, caring, and attentiveness to his clients' needs and preferences. He created a lively, fun mood through ongoing funny banter with all of us. He learned each of our quirky wishes and made sure they were met each day. He answered our zillion questions about what we were seeing out the car windows and as we toured various sites (not to be confused with the local guides we had in some cities who were specialists in their own locales' histories). Hassan was super attentive to all our questions, and his knowledge seemed inexhaustible. When three of us seniors wanted to climb up to a High Atlas waterfall, Hassan patiently helped pull each of us over each batch of rocks, telling us where to place our feet at each step. When my beloved visor blew off my head over the cliff in the strong winds at Chefchouen's Spanish Mosque, I was sure it was gone for good. But Hassan immediately plunged over the nearly vertical hillside and in about 15 minutes he miraculously reappeared with my visor! In the desert, Hassan expertly taught us how to wind our scarves around our heads in the Berber manner. He played a drum in another Berber village fantastically well, and a couple times sang along with Berber songs on the car radio in his very appealing voice. Without Hassan, our trip wouldn't have been as fun, memorable, and informative as it was. We will never forget him! A couple of not-so-perfect elements and caveats: When you arrive at the Casablanca airport, go all the way outdoors to meet your guides: they are not allowed inside the terminal. They will give you a super great greeting once you emerge from the building. The argan oil people made too many claims that their products would cure every illness and solve any beauty problem, and they were too pushy trying to sell. Above all, be aware that you can and should BARGAIN everywhere, including at women's cooperatives such as the gorgeous Fez rug showroom. I made the mistake of believing the seller's standard bargaining strategy of pressuring me, claiming I couldn't consider my purchase over lunch and return afterward because the showroom (supposedly) was closing for the rest of the day for prayers. I should have just walked out at that moment so he would have understood I was ready to bargain! My husband Ed and I just returned from a two week trip to Morocco (a first time visit for us both) and I feel compelled to write a review about this wonderful company! My husband Ed and I just returned from a two week trip to Morocco (a first time visit for us both) and I feel compelled to write a review about this wonderful company! Dealing with Youssef was a breeze. He responded to my emails in record time and helped me plan an amazing personal/private trip. The really cool part is that we were able to change the trip as it went along. We are both beyond middle age and didn't really want a trip that took us to the desert or camel riding. Instead, we were able to work with our guide (Mustafa) and driver (Mustafa again!) to change the trip as we went along. We live in San Francisco and wanted to explore the urban feel of Morocco. Mustafa and Mustafa were able to guide and help us create this experience as it evolved. We were also able to choose our own Riads and meals. Our guide and driver were both wonderful and fun!
