Amory was our driver / guide for a 2.5 hour tour in the mid-afternoon. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the park and the Navajo culture and traditions and as stated by another reviewer, he knew more about my Android phone camera than I do!! This was our third trip to Monument Valley. 20+ years ago we took an extended tour with a Navajo guide and were able to see parts of the park that are restricted. That is true with the 2.5 hour tour with Tinhorn Tours. We saw things we had never seen before on the previous 2 trips. Our 2nd trip we did the self-guided, drive your own vehicle - I would only recommend that for a high clearance SUV or similar vehicle. Although there are signs with the names of rock formations, you simply don't get as much knowledge as with a Navajo guide. Amory was the BEST! Because it was quite cool, we had a fully enclosed vehicle so were very comfortable and a private tour since it was not peak season. It was definitely worth the money and I'd highly recommend. And we even got the added service of Amory meeting us the next morning to return the binoculars we left in his vehicle! Above and beyond! What a place! Stunning area and views. Amory was our guide, he had a wonderful knowledge of the area and the history and a strong connection with the land and the culture. Fabulous, highly recommended

Fabulous, highly recommendedWe took the 2.5 hour Valley tour with Amory. What a great experience. Amory knew his stuff and was a whizz with the iPhone camera. We got some great shots. The scenery was unique and amazing. Highly recommended.

I'm glad I took the tour instead of using my car.

Seeing Monument Valley was awe inspiring! Glad we didn't do the self-guided tour in my son's car, that road looked horrible for non high-clearance vehicles. Not having to drive and being able to go into the back country made the tour worth it! We booked the tour the day before, not sure how Navajo Nation would be on the day of the Annular Eclipse. The Park opened at 1pm and our tour was for 2pm, but we started late since the tour party was waiting on more people to get in through the entrance. Unfortunately, I feel we didn't get the full tour, or at least less time at each site. The guide, though very nice and personable, didn't seem as knowledgeable as those I read about on the reviews. I would still recommend the tour though.I had a lot of fun and would do it again. Although it’s for all people a funny thing to do. Great views, nice photos!
