It was a pleasure to have Anto and his team on our 5-day trek through Gunung Leuser National Park. It was a challenge, but worth it! The Jungle Guide-Team is highly skilled and took care of everything - food, camp, logistics and most importantly our health and safety. We spotted lots of wildlife, hiked on elephant trails, and even saw the footsteps of a tiger. Our guides taught us so much about the rainforest, its inhabitants, and living in and with this incredible nature - we will never forget this very special time we had together in the rainforest. We only wish we had had more time for an even longer jungle trek! Everything about this tour was just fantastic. We will always remember this experience and will definitely go again. Highly recommended!!!The jungle Guido, where to start! We took the 3d2n to have enough time to admire the animals and the jungle. The jungle Guido, where to start! We took the 3d2n to have enough time to admire the animals and the jungle. This is definitely recommended because both of those animals scattered in the jungle and the jungle which is also beautiful are worthe it! The trek is very beautiful and challenging with super nice climbs and descent! The staff Sandi mahadi and ishal were super nice people to be with on this trip! The food made by mahadi was amazingly delicious! Every day there was something different for breakfast/lunch and dinner. Also, delicious fruits or snacks were super well brought and taken care of. They also provide zero waste and trash in the jungle which was a preference for us, they did this excellently! Obviously I can't compare with other organizations but they made the experience unforgettable so I can only recommend it with 100%! Thanks again!I did the 5 day trek with The Jungle Guide in early January with two other friends, and it was the highlight of my trip to Indonesia. I did the 5 day trek with The Jungle Guide in early January with two other friends, and it was the highlight of my trip to Indonesia. On the trek, my group and I were incredibly looked after by our guides. All the food that was provided was incredibly delicious, and our chefs went above and beyond to source local jungle foods to mix in to the meals which made the experience very unique and memorable. The guide was extremely friendly and engaging, and always put the effort in to teach us about the jungle and the various animals that inhabit it. On our trek we saw semi-wild orangutans on the first day, along with many other animals and birds, and then once we got deeper into the jungle, we spotted wild orangutans and wild deer. The trekking intensity was just at the right level, and every afternoon, our team set up shelters for us right next to the rivers which we were able to swim in and unwind after the day of trekking. The point of contact Senta at The Jungle Guide was always able to respond to any questions we had, and looked after us all the way from our first encounter to us leaving Bukit Lawang. I would recommend taking the 5 day trekking tour with The Jungle Guide if you want to experience the real jungle from Bukit Lawang, and get the most out of your adventure in Sumatra.I was looking for a great experience but they were actually over the top, from the moment I contacted them I could notice the willingness to help, the desire to provide the best service and when I met the crew... I was looking for a great experience but they were actually over the top, from the moment I contacted them I could notice the willingness to help, the desire to provide the best service and when I met the crew... I wasn't wrong to choose them from all the other providers, such friendly and genuine people, you will never be afraid that things could go wrong or activities will not be on time, you really don't need to be worried about anything, they will make sure everything is good and even give you suggestions if you are missing something in your own gear, in short they are fantastic!!!! My passion is nature photography. I try to inspire people with good photos for nature. I travel a lot with my camera in my home country (Saxony-Anhalt/ Germany). But of course I also have photographic goals abroad. Observing, experiencing and photographing orangutans in their natural environment, in the jungle of Sumatra or Borneo, has been one of my dream goals for many years. Because I only had a limited time frame of 2 to 3 weeks for such a photo tour, perfect preparation was very important to me. Good photos are no coincidence and always require precise planning. An experienced local guide is indispensable. I met Anto and Senta in Germany and was impressed by their enthusiasm for Sumatra. After a short time it was clear to me that the destination of my next trip would be the Gunung-Leuser National Park on Sumatra. I had a lot of questions for Anto. I was interested in the weather, the possible animal species, the distances, the light conditions. I was interested in whether the guides would help carry the equipment and I was particularly interested in his reports on the orangutans. I know from Anto that the orangutans that are at the edge of the jungle mostly come from a programm be released into the wild. They let people participate in their lives without hesitation and now also have offspring. There is also the somewhat cautious population of wild orangs a little deeper in the jungle. The location for multi-day treks into the jungle would be Bukit-Lawang. We developed a program for my tour together. Senta and Anto understood very quickly what I wanted from this trip. For example, a possible rafting adventure was unimportant to me. It was important for me to find interesting animal species. That meant a multi-day jungle trek. Besides the orangutans there are Thomas‘s langurs, White-handed gibbons, Southern Pig-Tailed Macaques, Long tailed macaque macaques and giant squirrels and many more species. There is a variety of reptiles and insects, but also very interesting destinations for landscape photographers. In addition, Anto also familiarized me with the entire problem of the growing palm oil plantations. What can I say. I was enthusiastic about all facets of this journey and came back with a lot of photos. Because I was prepared for it, my equipment survived really heavy rain in the jungle. Anto is a perfect guide. He knows the nature of his homeland and he knows which animals are where and when. Senta managed perfectly all the questions with accommodation etc. I can warmly recommend Senta, Anto and the whole team "The Jungle Guide" to all interested nature photographers.I had such an amazing time in Bukit Lawang. I had such an amazing time in Bukit Lawang. I was there with a good friend of mine and together we have met so many nice people and have been able to experience so many things that I won't forget for life! But in my view, the best and most impressive experience was the 3 day jungle trek that we did with Anto. Not only were we able to see parts of the jungle, that you won't be able find, if you don't have an experienced local guide by your side, but we were also able to see so many animals within the jungle: macaques, gibbons, a snapping turtle, a goanna but most of all the beautiful orangutans. Then you get the best food in the jungle (probably also because you are just so hungry, but still) and you are having so much fun with the guides with building jungle crowns, playing cards and singing next to a bonfire or with building your own hut where you are going to sleep in. And even more than that: Anto and the other guides always had our back, like for example they would help us carrying our backpacks, they would help you get out of the river safely, when you get stuck and so on. I would love to do a trip again one day, maybe even longer than 3 days. And I recommend visiting the jungle of Bukit Lawang to each and every person - you will never forget about this experience!
