2 Day Orangutan Jungle Trek from Hotel Orangutan Bukit Lawang

We have never done a trek where our guests don't see Orangutans as we employ spotters who go out early to find their location.
We take a safety-first approach to our treks and go at your required speed.
We are a social enterprise and 80% of your trek fee goes to the local villagers.

What to expect
Day 1: Gentle trek up into the rainforest
Stop At: Gunung Leuser National Park, Gunung Leuser National Park, North Sumatra, Sumatra
This 8000sq/k rainforest is home to the Sumatran Orangutan, Tiger, Rhino and Elephant. Not to mention many types of gibbons and monkeys. Also home to the worlds largest flower - Rafflesia arnoldii

Accommodation included: Camp by the river with a canvas shelter, mosquito net tent, sleeping matt and your own chef.
Day 2: Walk across the ill and tube back on the river
Stop At: Gunung Leuser National Park, Gunung Leuser National Park, North Sumatra, Sumatra
Start the day with a hearty breakfast, more trekking then ride a raft made from tubes back down the river to the hotel
Duration: 16 hours

Hotel Orangutan was just as perfect for our 3 days trek. We did the trek with our 12 years old daughter and it was very special. From arranging our airport transfers and providing lodging, which was amazing, the staff was very professional, friendly and informative, nice to visit with and very helpful. We had 2 guides for us. Our main guide Monang is very experienced and very into the animal welfare, the second one (sorry forgot his name) was young as he's the new generation. but so helpful. The cook made us just excellent lunch and diner. We had to chance to see 11 orangutans. Some semi wild and some wild, male and mama with baby :-) We also saw Thomas's leaf monkeys, Macaque, Lizard... This was a bucket list since a long time. We recommend 100% the whole crew and the hotel ! Don't hesitate to ask for Monang as guide ! The elephant trekking is a must as well👍🏽👍🏽 Vyca waited for our arrival with a smile and warm greeting. I can’t say enough about the staff, they were caring, attentive and friendly. Geweldige ervaring! Onze gids Andra wist ons veel te vertellen over de jungle, de omgeving in het algemeen en alles wat daar leeft. We hebben maar liefst 6 verschillende Orang Utans gezien en nog veel meer! We wilde eerst maar 1 dag gaan, maar op aanraden van Andra hebben we ook een overnachting gedaan. Best spannend in eerste instantie, maar het valt reuze mee. De campsites zijn goed verzorgd en het eten wat je krijgt is heerlijk. Mocht je ooit op Sumatra zijn, zijn Bukit Lawang en specifiek het Orang Utan hotel echt een aanrader!
