I hadnt really know much about Maarsalam tours before my trip to Egypt. Ahmed's quick replies to my questions enticed me into opting for his service. His driver picked me up from my hotel in Safaga on time and their cars are clean and well air conditioned. Lucky for me no money was asked for upfront and the driver took me to an ATM for a withdrawal. Safaga is about a 3 hour drive to Luxor through a serene mountainscape. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I would have a personal guide, an Encylopia Egyptica, Dr Hani He narrated the history of Thebes and the Pharaohs who built Karnak and after a thrity minute tour gave me time to wander about the temples solo. Ma Assalam's tour includes a boat ride to the West bank of the Nile for lunch buffet. From Kanark we ventured forth to the Valley of the Kings. Pictures are not allowed in the tombs, however many of the guides will opt to take photos for you. Please desist from their pleas, photography degrades the art on the tomb walls. We proceeded to the Temple of Egypt's only female Pharaoh Hatshepsut, Dr Hani told me of her rise to power and the coup that left the upper chambers of the temple desecrated. Dr Hani and Mustahpha kindly dropped me off at the Luxor train station in good time to catch my train but not until we passed the colossi of Memnon. I recommend Dr Hani and MaAssalam tours to any vistor to Luxor. Thank you Dr Hani for your patience with my bartering with the very crass luxury good sellers outside Hatshepsut’s temples. The price of $160 for solo trips and $110 for group travel is well spent luxory time that will leave you truly initiated into our past.spikeT2017
