Overview
Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL)
The flora and fauna of Bukit Lawang Mountain and lowland forests are breath taking. Both are vitally important genetic resource and wildlife habitat. The "green gold" Bukit Lawang is situated at the eastern side of Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL). This jungle is part of a larger section of jungle known as the Leuser Ecosystem. This region has an area of 2.6 million hectares which includes the area around TNGL which serves as a buffer zone.

What to expect
Itinerary
Day 1: Start the trekking from Bukit Lawang Village
Stop At: Gunung Leuser National Park, Gunung Leuser National Park, North Sumatra, Sumatra
After breakfast at 8:30 am our guides will greet you at the hotel where you are staying. After that the tour group will set off into the jungle forroughly a6to 7 hour trek. During the trip, if we are lucky, we may see Orangutans, Thomas leaf monkey, Gibbons, or long-tailed Macaque. During the day we will break for lunch and eat tropical fruits, following by a short walk to our campsite location. Thereyou can do activities like bathing in the river and behold the beauty of the natural landscape which will surround you. Our team will provide some complementary tea, coffee and snacks. At the end of the day our teamwill prepare a delicious dinner which can vary but may include rice, vegetables, chicken, chili sauce, tempeh and more.After dinner we can choose to play a fun interactive group game before going to bed for a well needed rest.

Day 2: Day 2
Pass By: Gunung Leuser National Park, Gunung Leuser National Park, North Sumatra, Sumatra
After breakfast provided by Team Bukit Lawang Planet we will be walking into the jungle. During the journey we will learn about the plants of theforests that can be used as herbal medicine. If we are lucky we may see some interesting animals such as; the Endangered Orangutan, White-hundred gibbon, snakes, monkeys, monitor lizards, and many other exotic wildlife unique tothe jungle.Thejungle trek is typically a 5-6 hour walk. During the day our team will prepare a lunch that includes locally sourced fresh fruit. After Lunch we will begin our trek to return to Bukit Lawang. Here we have two options; to return on foot, or, with a traditional tube raft which we canridedown the river for an additional fee. You may choose either to walk back to bukit lawang or travel back with tube rafting down the river.

WOW! We had such an incredible experience on the orangutan trek with Heri and Jojo as our guides. I never expected to see so much wildlife over the course of two days. From orangutans (babies too!), to Thomas monkeys, praying mantis, turtles, centipedes, many birds, and more- it was truly amazing...
WOW! We had such an incredible experience on the orangutan trek with Heri and Jojo as our guides. I never expected to see so much wildlife over the course of two days. From orangutans (babies too!), to Thomas monkeys, praying mantis, turtles, centipedes, many birds, and more- it was truly amazing! We were so lucky to have Heri and Jojo as our guides because they were so knowledgeable about the rain forest, and always made us feel safe and happy to be there. They even prepared us delicious meals everyday with fresh local fruits and veggies to meet our needs as vegans. It was a fun, interesting experience. We saw orangutans and also learnt a lot about wild life, rain forests. Also it’s a beautiful trek and the camp has its own vibe. I loved it.

Es war eine super Erfahrung die wilden Tiere, speziell die Orangutans so nah und doch in freier Wildbahn sehen zu können. Die Wanderung war sehr anstrengend, aber es lohnt sich. Übernachtet wurde direkt am Fluss in überdachten Zelten. Die Jungs Putra und Anto sind super bemüht. Am Ende gibt es...

Really great experience from start to finish! The trek is amazing with the guides showing and telling you all the jungle has to offer, beautiful nature and awesome animals. We were fortunate enough to see 13 orangutans!! At the camp you're treated with so many delicious foods and have time to chill in the river and play some games. The rafting back to the village is so much fun and the guides keep you entertained and informed throughout! Also so easy to organise with great communication about transport and places to stay and you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in, whatever time of day or night that is! Definitely recommend!!
