The world heritage site of Hampi with the ruins of the great Vijayanagara Empire are explored in 2 days from Bangalore. Its a ride back to the 15th century when Hampi was one of the great Kingdoms of the day. Its 48 hours of magic about magnificent temples with musical pillars, gigantic works of art carved out of stone, royal quarters, palaces and iron age cave paintings.

Itinerary
Day 1: Hill temples
Stop At: Group of Monuments at Hampi, Southern Bank of the River Tungabhadra, Hampi 583239 India
6AM- Hotel pick up
We drive 350 KMs to reach the Hampi, the ancient capital of Vijayanagara Empire.
2PM- Arrive in Hampi
We start our tour at the biggest idol of Hampi. Ugra Narasimha is 22 feet in height and was carved by a Brahmin during Krishnadevaraya’s time. There is a serpent with open hood at the back of the head
We will next visit Badavi Linga is the biggest of all lingas in Hampi. It is made of black stone and rises 12 feet in height. A canal passes through it and hence it’s always in water.
Balakrishna temple was built by the King Krishnadevaraya) in 1513 AD to celebrate the conquest of the eastern kingdom of Udayagiri. Its a temple of Lord Krishna during his infancy and has spectacular carvings of mythical beasts.
Hemakunta hill is our next destination. It has many ancient temples provides scenic views of the entire town. It is also a great place to watch the Sun set.

Stop At: Virupaksha Temple, Rambo, Hampi India
We end the day at the magnificent Virupaksha temple. It is from the Hoysala period and is the oldest temple in Hampi. The temple tower has eleven storeys and goes up 165 ft in height. The river Tungabhadra flows inside.

Day 2: World heritage monuments
Stop At: Vijaya Vittala Temple, Near Kalyan Mantapa, Hampi 583239 India
Today begins at Vijaya Vittala temple is probably the grandest masterpiece around. It is constructed on a polyhedron foundation. Right at the front is the world renowned stone chariot made of rough quartz. You will spot figures of soldiers, hunters and even foreign visitors like Portuguese and Arabs etched on the chariot.
The musical pillars of the temple is one of the greatest work of art by mankind.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Royal Enclosures, Hampi 4 Km from Hampi, Bellary India
King’s Balance is the next destination. This is a huge stone frame east of Purandara Mantapa. A stone beam is placed on two pillars of stone. Legend has it that the generous Kings of Vijayanagara used to weigh them with gold and gems and distribute it among the poor.
We will visit the Royal enclosures. Some of the memorable structures here are the Elephant stables, Queen’s bath and the Lotus Mahal. The Zanana enclosure , which was the place for the royal women is another fascinating site.

Stop At: Anegundi Fort, Tungabhadra, Angegundi Village, Hampi India
The Hampi experience ends at the ancient Anegundi caves. The paintings here date back to the Iron Age around 1500 BC.

This was a day trip from Bangalore, and Vijay was my guide. The palace is 3.5 hours drive away from Bangalore. It is very well designed and decorated, with numerous paintings, treasures an artifacts. Very impressive from both outside and inside. After the Mysore Palace, we also went to the Jaganmohan Palace, now an art gallery. It is close to the Mysore palace and includes many art pieces from Ravi Verma. Worth a stopby when in Mysore. My guide Vijay made the trip very interesting by including mythological tales, historical events and even some gossips during the visit. He was also willing to accommodate the schedule. On behalf of a group of 19 people in Bangalore for a corporate event, I stumbled upon 5 Senses Tours. I was looking to give our group a taste of the culture and history of Bangalore within a 2.5 hour time frame. I asked 5 Senses to create a customized tour for us. We had a mixed group of Indian and westerners in the tour. Our tour guides were Satish, Kannan and Chandrashekhar. Our tour began with a visit to two Hindu temples near central Bangalore. Our tour guides provided great historical context to the temples and some interesting facts. We spent time walking through the temple and we learned about the amazing history. Afterwards we walked through 8th Cross in Malleshwaram. All of our 5 senses were in overdrive during this portion of the tour. The sights, smells and sounds of India were on vibrant display during this evening market. Small shops were selling nearly everything. It was great to walk through the streets with our guides. We had only 2.5 hours for our tour, but it was well worth it. Highly recommend 5 Senses, they were very accommodating. This is a definite must-do for first time visitors to Bangalore. Great way to experience culture and sights/sounds of India in a short time.jennyadams144

My colleague and I were in Bangalore on work and had a free day. So we found about Five Senses Tours on TripAdvisor and they seemed to have some unique tours and great reviews. So I gave them a try. I booked the 2 of us on the cultural heritage walk through malleswaram. It was a lovely day spent walking through a green neighborhood with a rich cultural heritage. We walked through bazaars selling lovely flowers and other knick knacks. The 2 ancient temples we visited were incredible. One was nearly a 1000 years old and had a dozen Oliver Ridley turtles in the pond! The dosa we had at a local eatery was the highlight of the tour! Satish, my guide was amazing and great company. Not only was he knowledgeable but also very friendly and went out of his way to attend to my whims! I would recommend every business traveler in Bangalore with a half day free to try this tour.ali a

I learned of Narayanan and Five Senses Tours from a friend who took a motorcycle tour with him. Joined by a second guide, Kannan, my friend and I were treated to a day-long trip from Whitefield/Bangalore to Mysore that included history, excellent food, and great conversation about current events and local culture. At Mysore Palace, a local guide led a great tour of this beautiful place. After tours of two local museums, we ended the day with our second stop for excellent local food. I HIGHLY recommend Narayanan and his staff -- they will provide an exceptional experience for all of your senses!
