This is not like some of the fabulous South African safari parks, but for two in our group it was really good as they had not done a game drive before. The guide was really good. Great sense of humour. My concern was that the park is overstocked with buck as there was a dung inches apart everywhere. I’m no expert but was concerned. The park itself is situated in a beautiful setting with the backdrop of gorgeous mountains. Scenery stunning! Think the reserve is missing a trick by not offering sundowners and evening meals. We spent two nights in a family room, which meant we hade a separate own little 2 bedroom cabin in the Woods. We spent two nights in a family room, which meant we hade a separate own little 2 bedroom cabin in the Woods. It was lovely, rustic and clean and really private. Downside was few spiders, which I understand you cannot prevent if you want to have a cabin in the bush. But there were also mice living inside the wall... Kids loved them but I could have done without. All-in-all I would still stay there again. The Baronette lodge and the game drive station both had rustic character, which I loved and the game drive was very good in my opinion. You got really close to elephants, giraffes, zebras, antilopes, lions, cheetas etc. Food at baronette lodge was quite basic home cooking, but tasty and nicely and personally served. Also specially our kids loved the pool. Price/Quality very good.We had a fantastic time. The reception area is beautiful, with great atmosphere. We had a fantastic time. The reception area is beautiful, with great atmosphere. Was cold but they also have huge fire places for anyone to warm up. The staff is friendly and welcoming, always smiling, you can see that they love what they do. Saw all the different animals. We only struggled finding the Giraffes but the driver was so patient enough to look for them until we finally got to see 8 of them. Was amazing. would recommend to anyone who loves animals. When you drive into the reserve, reception is far in the park, at least a 5-7min drive, don't get irritated by that! When you drive into the reserve, reception is far in the park, at least a 5-7min drive, don't get irritated by that! Welcome was a bit cold, but everything was quick and efficient. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable, although the 2 hours were already up, we drove back to the small lake to spot the hippos! We saw elephants, giraffes, a rhino, loads of zebras and kudus and last but not least cheetahs and lions! They are kept in a separated area, as they would reduce livestock too heavily. All in all, a great experience for a fair price!
