We were very fortunate to have Beatriz as our blue badge guide. She really brought the Roman, Medieval, Civil War and Victorian history of the city to life. We were able to ask lots of questions, which Beatriz was able to answer and expand on. We felt she helped us see the city with fresh eyes and gave us a new perspective on its wide range of architecture. It was a really fun and fascinating 2 hours amid the unexpected but lively crowds who had assembled in bright sunshine for the Chester Half Marathon. In exchange for all her wealth of knowledge, we were only able to help her with her pronunciation of Tudor (chew- da)!The tour guide, Michael Bird, was not only knowledgeable about the history of Chester but was enthusiastic and obviously enjoyed showing people his favourite places and connecting us to the centuries of lived lives in Chester. The tour guide, Michael Bird, was not only knowledgeable about the history of Chester but was enthusiastic and obviously enjoyed showing people his favourite places and connecting us to the centuries of lived lives in Chester. It was a good gentle pace and we were always invited to ask questions. We had someone on the tour who’d lived 30 years in Chester and found out new snippets to enjoy, as well as us new visitors who found it fascinating . It was a good way to feel connected to the city.A small group of 7 with our guide Beatrice gave us a terrific insight into Chester, taking us to areas we didn't even know existed. The tour including around sections of the wall supported by stories & facts from Beatrice gave us an appreciation of the Chester history in a fun way too :-)
