I would recommend that you visit other islands than to waste your money on this. It’s not worth it at all.

Boarded the ferry boat from "Jetty N0 2" and after a short ride on arrival at the "Whale Submarine" station we queued to purchase tickets with each ticket costing U.S $ 90 .The ‘Whale Submarine’ of "Tourist Submarines Maldives Pvt Ltd" owned by former Home Minister and businessman Umar Naseer takes non-divers down 132 feet(40 Meters) under water to view the ‘Tear Drop’ Mountain Reef and various fish species.50 passengers can be accommodated in this beautifully white coloured "Whale Submarine" and this would be a first submarine voyage during my lifetime of travel in various modes of transport across the Globe. Here today i would actually be travelling under the Indian Ocean in South East Asia's only "Passenger Submarine" as also having the distinction of being the largest commercial passenger submarine in operation. At 1430 hrs we boarded the White coloured submarine and were allotted our respective seats on opposite sides of the total length of the vessel. As the fish are fed from the submarine to attract them towards our viewing observation glasses that were similar to ship's portholes we could already get a view of some fish in the vicinity .Finally our descent began into the deep Indian Ocean and the most common fish species attracted towards us as we gradually made our descent towards the sea bed were the Surgeon fish species . Two staff members moved along the corridor explaining us tourists the various fish species visible to us as akin to "Bird-Watching" on land. I was ignorant of the names of some of the exotic fish species .We would descend to a maximum depth of 40 meters to the bottom of the locale in this part of the Indian Ocean. Our line of seats was facing the Coral reef shelf of the Ocean akin to the deep sea snorkeling i had done yesterday off the coast of Omadhoo island. As the fish were fed they converged in shoals towards the submarine with the Surgeon Fish being in maximum numbers. This submarine dive is basically for "Non-Divers" and "Non-Snorkelers" as also for membership to "Braggers Rights Club" of having travelled in a submarine although only for 45 minutes..Once we touched the bottom of 40 meters(132 Ft ) depth with a mountain of the Tear Coral reef looming in front of us we gradually began the ascent and changed seats with the opposite seated passenger. My seat now faced the deep open water and not the Tear Coral Mountain reef.In this way tourists on the submarine tour could get a entire view of a normal coral sea shelf as well as a deep blue sea.To me except for the once in a lifetime rarest of rare submarine ride the viewing of the fish didn't impress as i had seen much better views during solo snorkeling on Omadhoo island as well as the "Turtle Safari" off Hangnaameedho Island in the deep blue Indian Ocean.A must visit when anyone visits Maldives. A must visit when anyone visits Maldives. Whale Submarine experience was a great one. The guide directed us exceptionally well. It's a 45 minutes tour in the Submarine. Total time taken from and to Jetty is around 1 hour 30 minutes. What you can see is different colours of corals and colorful fishes. Underwater caves where you can see eels too. It was our first experience in a Submarine and we recommend all to take this tour. It's more like a memory and once in a lifetime opportunity. The submarine experience was good but the underwater tour was not satisfactory because we were expecting a vibrant underwater life. The submarine experience was good but the underwater tour was not satisfactory because we were expecting a vibrant underwater life. The submarine goes down to about 120 feet to the ocean floor that has a reef and stays there for about 45 minutes where half the time we just stared at the murky waters where there is no visibility and then switched seats to see the fishes on the reef on the other side of the submarine, and then it comes up and the tour is over. We had done snorkeling in a sand bank that had a good reef so maybe this tour was not up to our expectations. We saw more fishes in the reef compared to the submarine tour.I booked at TripAdvisor.com (Viator) with $85. ( I came across another site which offered $75 but they never replied to my email. ). I booked at TripAdvisor.com (Viator) with $85. ( I came across another site which offered $75 but they never replied to my email. ). Trying to save money by using Viator in other places in the world (such as Pisa Tower) is said to be troublesome. But this Viator deal is completely painless 😁 The only worry I had had was that Viator’s instructions tell us to go to Jetty 2, instead of Jetty 1 of the instructions from the submarine company. It made me think whether Viator representative would show up in Jetty 2 to usher us to Jetty 1. A couple emails cleared this up and Jetty 1 is more or less the same as Jetty 2, a few steps away from each other anyway. There is no Viator representative and it’s all handled by the submarine company which honors tickets sold by all intermediate agents. On that day of activity, around 10:30 am, after their boat taking the passengers to the diving platform in the middle of the sea and all the ticketing, I was inside the submarine before 11:30 am. The submarine started to dive at ~11:41 am. It reached the bottom at ~11:45. I saw their big meter reading 124 ft (close to 40 m that was advertised). The submarine went back to the top at ~12:35 pm. So, the 45 minute dive was also fulfilled. Some unlucky guys complained (online) about much shorter duration (probably due to bad weather) and I guess I have been lucky today. Passengers at one side of the submarine exchanged seats with the other side of the submarine in the middle of the dive so that all passengers could see the side with coral reef. Another worth-noting point is that the captain who drove the submarine was a woman. It’s certainly another sign that this Muslim country is obviously more liberal than the likes of Saudi Arabia where the Prince tried to sell his reform of allowing women to drive (etc.) to the West. In Maldives, woman drivers of motorcycles and cars have been easily observable. Probably because people typically complain more than give praise online which has helped set my expectation quite low, this overall experience is actually much better than my expectation. I have never sitten inside a submarine before. Today, the submarine was more or less full (though I know their business has not been as good as it used to be). We were happy to see all the different kinds of fishes and coral reef. At least, I have never had the motivation to take so many pictures before. My husband and I booked this tour online via aviator. My husband and I booked this tour online via aviator. It costs $85 per person. They first pick you up from the Jerry at Male on a boat. Then they take you to the submarine sight. Once all passengers checked in you board the submarine 1 at a time. You go underwater till 40 metres and you see the floor and some little fish and some bigger fish because they feed the fish on the sides of the submarine. All in all Just a little hyped up but good to know you went into a submarine once!😉
