5 day trek Ecosierra- was an amazing company and we are so glad we chose it. Our guide (David) was incredible. Passionate, knowledgeable, helpful, attentive and knew our needs before we did. If it was muddy, he would take us step by step. If I was really slippery he held our hands on the way down and was very careful for our safety. He was also really fun. He knows everything about the nature and the people. We feel extremely lucky to have had him as our guide. The cook- very attentive and as soon as we arrived at camp he had our preferred drinks ready for us and he accommodated our needs. We are usually vegetarian but we decided beforehand that we would eat fish. We got good fish and our vegetarian meals always had a protein. The food was good and filling. The company- is an organization of locals so the money isn’t going to big business but right back into the community. They invest the money in creating projects to diversify the economy of the village so they are not reliant on just tourism because of the pandemic. They also work closely with the indigenous community, and have a much better relationship with them than the big companies. They also are taking 5% of what they make to set up a scholarship for promising kids in the community. They are super great and have great organization. The trek- the trek is NOT easy. If you have good weather it can be ok but you are talking up and down mountains for many hours a day. If it is muddy it is very difficult. If you love walking up and down steep mountains 8 hours a day in the hot sun or mud and mosquitos than this trek is for you. Be prepared to be uncomfortable. But you will be happy and more fit afterwards! Good luck and choose this company!
