I have traveled a lot, and I must say that my time in northern Ghana was absolutely one of my favorite trips I have ever taken. The scenery is beautiful, the region is understated, but, perhaps most importantly, I had an incredible guide, David, that really went out of his way to ensure I had an incredible experience. David is a very local guide, having grown up in Mole National Park. That means he knows everyone and knows how to help you have an extra special stay. Most tourists come to Mole to see the elephants (I was no exception!), and when I didn’t get to see any on one of my safaris, David was able to connect with a ranger to ensure that they would call us when the elephants did come out. And sure enough, when they came to watering hole, David got us back to the park and down to waterhole for a close up view of those majestic creatures. He also helped us get to the hippo sanctuary at the right time of day to see more of the majestic creatures. When you come so far to see the wildlife, it’s sad when you don’t get to see it — David went above and beyond to make sure I got to witness as much as possible. Additionally, after I told David I wanted to get a sense of local life, he helped me meet some of the members of the community and try some local food. He was always great about answering all my questions, and if he didn’t know any, he would go find the answers. I get the sense that he is happy to tailor your experience, however you want it. I am often afraid to travel as a single woman, especially solo with a male guide. I felt very safe and welcome by David, enraptured by Mole National Park and Ghana’s NW region, and cannot recommend this experience enough.I booked the 4 day tour with friends, not knowing what to expect, as the tour description and itinerary were not clear, and no answers to queries were provided by TripAdvisor. I booked the 4 day tour with friends, not knowing what to expect, as the tour description and itinerary were not clear, and no answers to queries were provided by TripAdvisor. The tour is geared for arrival in Tamale by flight, which we did not plan. But luckily we got hold of Isaac, the tour guide, and everything was smooth and the tour was quickly changed to fit in with our timing. The activities were very enjoyable and worth the effort to get there, although it is a long drive to Wechiau and back in one day.Was excellent and adventurous will always love to come back again and again. Such a nice and awesome place

I thoroughly recommend Grassroot Tours for travel in Ghana. Isaac was a wonderful guide. He's friendly, professional and had all the answers to my questions. He looked after the big things as well as the little things like finding snacks. He was endlessly patient with my many requests to stop so I could photograph every little village mosque. The day trip to Wechiau Hippo Sanctuary was the highlight. I was lucky enough to see some hippos but paddling up that remote river felt like a proper adventure just by itself. It was amazing! The Safari was well organised and we were well guided .Thank you for the experience.
