Mr Ian Doig was too good who picked us on time from our hotel and who took us on the best sight seeing views with a tint of adventure too. His 4 x4 drive is worth doing in that terrain. We took many pictures and created great memories.. He later dropped us at the Windermere rail station.Ian was lovely, knowledgeable and just keen for us to enjoy our trip. A real delight and well recommended. Some great stops, a giant slate mine “cathedral”, stunning views and we even stopped to look at the highland cows as one of the group had never seen one before.

He was fun and took us on a very interesting driving route that we wouldn’t have found on our own. We especially liked the waterfall and choice of cafe stop. Would recommend to couples and families.

We were collected at our guesthouse. Ian's car is big and comfortable and Ian galantly opens the doors for us and closes them when we are seated. He took us to Lake Windermere, the Wray castle, Kirkstone Pass and the old slatestone mine (which is usually to be reached after a 2 miles walk on difficult paths, but Ian has special permission to drive these paths, so we didn't have to walk this distance) . Ian knows the best places to go and their history and he's eager to tell us all about the places we visited. Finally he dropped us off at the marina, where we could make a trip on the Lake. Ian listened to us and adjusted routes and (duration of) stops at our wishes. As our visit to Lake District was just short, this trip was ideal to see these highlights in the short time, we had to spent there.Amazing 4x4 experience which was really enjoyed by all the family. Amazing 4x4 experience which was really enjoyed by all the family. Ian catered for 6 of our family easily in his comfortable 4x4 which took us across the lake district to visit many different scenic landscapes and interesting places that we would have never encountered on our own. A great way to see the lake district away from the regular tourist locations. The time flew by and would definitely recommend to others. We booked Ian for the sailing experience and the 4x4 experience. We booked Ian for the sailing experience and the 4x4 experience. We have visited the Lakes before so wanted something different to do with our boys aged 10 and 14. We were not disappointed on either experience. Ian is friendly, easy to chat to and very knowledgable about his passions for sailing and the Lakes in general. Highly recommended if you fancy something slightly different. Our highlights were the off roading to a cave (an old slate mine) and Slaters Bridge. The sailing was a fantastic way to introduce the boys to the water. Memories made and banked…….priceless. Our host Ian was very accommodating and flexible, a true professional.
