Cap Spartel is a promontory in Morocco about 1, 000 feet (300 m) above sea level at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, 12 km west of Tangier. It is the northwesternmost point of the African continent. Below the cape are the Caves of Hercules. Enjoy spectacular views over the Meeting point of Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.

Situated next to the summer palace of the King of Morocco. The cave has two entances, one to sea and one to land. The sea entrance is known as "The Map of Africa", believed to be created by the Phoenicians which is in the shape of Africa when looked at from the sea.

Our guide, Hassan, was excellent. He is obviously proud of his country and wants to share as much as he can with visitors. A great tour of the city and beautiful surrounding countryside. We rode camels on the beach and visited the Cave of Hercules. After a great tagine for lunch, we walked through the city center and the busy markets in the kasbah.

My family had a great time and the camel ride was perfect for my tweens and teens to enjoy something different in Morocco. The guide was very informative. They were very flexible as I didn't realize the time zone changes and arrived to the ferry port about an hour earlier than my appointed time...
