Spent the day with Reynir in his clean, comfortable 4x4. He literally put us in the drivers seat by personalizing the itinerary to suit our wishes. He picked us up from our hotel in Dimmuborgir and started with a hike up the crater, difficult but breathtaking, no pun intended. We'll worth the effort, the view from the top and into the crater was awesome! He kicked the 4x4 into high hear and then took us for a fun, bumpy and exciting ride to view 3 magnificent waterfalls, including Dettifoss. Again, more hiking on snow covered trails, but again so worth the effort. Stopped to visit a dairy farm and met the cows, said hello to horses along the road and went searching for trolls in the magnificent lava fields around Lake Myvtan. Short stop at small water caves en route, plenty of bathroom breaks and photo opps. Shared stories about families and culture with lots of laughs and silliness. An absolutely perfect day, exactly what we we'd hoped for when we booked with Reynir, the owner of Star Travel, and our gracious guide for the day!We book a private tour with Reynir for the 4 of us - active seniors - as opposed to a cruise ship excursion. It was an awesome day - tailored to our preferences and full of fun, interesting and stunning places and sights. Iceland is a country not to miss and Reynir is terrific! We highly recom...

We (four adult women) booked a private tour from Akureyri with Star Travel after exploring the options available. It was the best daytime experience of the trip! Reynir picked us up on time, made sure we were comfortable, talked openly but not too much, and followed our lead with regard to how much time to spend places. We saw SO MANY THINGS in a single day - it was amazing. While there were other groups some places, most places we went we were among few others, or in some cases, had the sights to ourselves! I particularly wanted to see Dettifoss, and Reynir let me know the road conditions might hinder us. Despite the warning, we were able to get there - with just a slightly longer hike - and saw the amazing waterfall. Being there, just the five of us, was an awesome experience, in every sense of the word. After that hike (some of it in knee-deep snow!) we were able to wind down a bit at the Nature Baths, all without feeling rushed. Reynir is a fantastic guide, a fantastic ambassador for Iceland and Akureyri, and a fantastic person to spend a day with. This was my first trip to Iceland, but I'll definitely go back, and would even schedule around being able to travel with Reynir again. If you're looking for a travel company in Northern Iceland, look no further - this is the group to go with.Reynir is the bomb! He is awesome. Affordable, fun, on time, you name it. Our tour we did three times what the cruise ship tours did for half the price. Can't say enough good things about Reynir and his tour. We went as 4 adults and were able to customize our tour. Can't say enough good things about Reynir and his tour. We went as 4 adults and were able to customize our tour. We visited waterfalls (and more waterfalls), volcanos, mud pots, hot springs, etc. Just an awesome day all around. Thanks for the great trip Reynir! We were picked up from the cruise terminal for a day of fun in a very nice , comfortable 4x4. Brynjar let use plan our day and at our pace. He had excellent suggestions, and was so flexible. Plus, we was like having your own personal comedian in the car. We got to see so much more than anybody on the cruise, plus it was a lot less expensive. There is so much to see around Akureyri, and we got great information about what we were touring. This was one of our best days in iceland. My family visited Akureyri for the day from a cruise ship in August. We had an amazing tour of the Lake Myvatn area. By the end of the day, our guide Petur had become a member of the family. He took the time to stop and show us Iceland beyond moving from one landmark to the next. We explored streams, little shops, and horses. We tasted local chocolates, bread baked in the earth and Icelandic Coca Cola. He told us about living in the area and we learned about everything- the waterfalls, animals and local culture. We were sad to return to the ship! This tour was just what we were looking for and we will always remember the fun we had in Akureyri!
