We traveled with Meru Slopes and it has been a great experience, especially by our guide Muddy who undoubtedly did a great job, what we liked the most about the 5 days of the trip was to get to know the Masai tribe, we were able to live an unparalleled experience, and that without a doubt from the tribe camp we could appreciate great views. Muddy is a boy who with his smile, his good vibe, his enthusiasm, and his good Spanish explained every detail to us.Me and my partner had an amazing safari trip thanks to Meru Slopes. Me and my partner had an amazing safari trip thanks to Meru Slopes. Luckily, and thanks to the hard work of Mudy, we managed to see the big 5. We opted for 5 days, 4 nights which was a perfect option and allowed plenty of time to see all of the animals. I think even 4 days, 3 nights would be enough. We also chose to do the budget safari camping, which really was an experience, albeit a good one! If you do consider this option, please be open minded that it is camping in a safari, so some nights will be cold and very slightly wet in the event of rain! Our package did include one night in a lodge (so 3 nights camping). However, it is still definitely worth your money. Speaking of Mudy, please ask for him if you decide to book with Meru Slopes. He is very tentative, knowledgeable and funny. I would definitely say Mudy’s personality bought the safari trip to life. This company is well reasonably priced. Our package even included transfers to and from the airport, hotel accommodation before and after the safari, as well as a free tour of the local town around Jambo Lodge - forgive me I cannot remember the name of the town - done by the lovely Priska (who I would also highly recommend for the tour, she was lovely). We did the tour with 4 other people, but with Mudy as driver and Rashid as chef also in the car, it was a bit tight on some journeys. I would therefore recommend that you just ask Geofrey if the trip can be limited to a certain amount of people. Rashid, our chef, was also amazing. It’s crazy what they can cook from not a lot. Breakfast ranged from toast, egg and pancakes, whereas dinners / lunch ranged from lasagne, to chips, stews and rice. Unlimited water and fizzy drinks are also included. I communicated with Geofrey from Meru Slopes who is very quick at responding. We also paid our deposit via bank transfer and paid the remaining balance via cash upon arrival which was all safe. P.s. if you would like to see any pictures / videos, please head over to @travelwithcat_ on Instagram! The guide and the food was delicious. We had the chance to see four of the big five. My girlfriend and I went on the safari with four other people and whole experience was absolutely fantastic. Meru Slopes did not disappoint at any point of the journey and was incredibly well organised in everything from picking us up at the airport very late in the evening to dropping us off very early in the morning at the airport and everything in between. Absolutely nothing to complain about here. Geofrey who was the main contact person before the safari provides a services level we could learn something from back in europe, in terms of time to reply but as well as ensuring everything is transparent before going on the safari. Our guide was Salehe, who was very experienced and it was an absolute blast to have him as our driver and guide throughout the journey. It was very clear that he knew the way around everything in the safari parks, animals and camps. Even when our car unfortunately broke down, he managed to do some "savanna magic" with sticks from a cut-down tree and thick robber band and within an hour we were able to continue the the last four days without any concern. Even though it is rather random when it comes to finding the animals, Salehe did an outstanding job in tracking and communicating with other guides to find the animals (also, by literally going the extra mile), so everything here was also up to expectation. Lastly, our cook, Moshi, ensured not only a delicious, healthy and nutritious meals at all times a day, but also great smile and good mood when you come home after a long day of touring the parks. He made sure that allergies and food preferences were reflected in the meals. Again here nothing to complain about. We can only highly recommend Meru Slopes and their tours. We had a wonderful time during the camping safari with a lot of wild animals and great group experience. Special thanks to our guide Isaac and our Chef Dennis, and of course to Geofrey for the organization.

We booked this trip in 2020 and communication with Geoffrey was easy right from the start. Unfortunately we contracted Covid and had to postpone. This was dealt with exceptionally and we finally made it to Tanzania in December 2021. Everything was so easy, arrival at the airport, picked up and transferred to a nice guesthouse in Arusha in the centre, easy walking distance to a supermarket before setting off the next day. The next day Douglas arrived and was cheery and enthusiastic from the start. We were on a shared trip so picked up 2 other visitors. We stuck pretty much exactly to the itinerary we were given and each part of the trip exceeded expectations. Tarangire National Park, Serengeti and Ngorogoro crater were all amazing and each had something a little different Animals: We saw just about every animal you could imagine with Douglas' keen eyes and binoculars helping us out. Elephants walked right past the Jeep, leopards, cheetah, lions, warthogs, impala, so many species of bird, the zebra and wildebeest migration, buffalo, giraffe, the list goes on. Unfortunately the rhino escaped us but that just gives us an excuse to go back. Accommodation: First night was in a lodge which has all your needs covered and was nice to be on a bed before camping the next 3 nights. We chose the camping option as you don't actually spend much time in the accommodation as you're out all day. Staff put the tents up and took them down and we did 3 nights total camping, 2 in the Serengeti. It was magical to wake up to the sunrise in this UNESCO world heritage site and to hear and see the wildlife form your tent. We felt very safe though. Amenities we're basic but what more do you need that a tent to sleep in and (cold) showers and a flushing toilet? Considering you're in the middle of the Serengeti!! The Ngorogoro crater campsite was more advanced even with a little shop to buy coffees/beers from if you wanted. Food: Our chef, (Imru maybe) was really friendly and did amazingly, I couldn't cook like that in the middle of the wild! Breakfast was a variety of pancakes, fruit, tea+coffee, etc. We took a cooked lunch out with us, rice, meat, chicken, potatoes, stew and always fruit to finish. We had a different cooked meal every night as well with pizza, spaghetti Bolognese, meat stew and even wine offered on some nights. We had a private transfer back to Arusha as the other people were staying longer and so we had an evening in Arusha to explore. Then the next day a private transfer to the airport. All seamless. Would highly recommend Meru Slopes to anyone and would also recommend bringing some dollars to give tips. These guys work hard and we felt that we got way more than our money's worth and so giving them a tip for their knowledge, cooking and driving was the least we could do to say thank you!
