Stop At: Balneario Cachoeira do Castanho, AM-070 Km 24, Iranduba, State of Amazonas Brazil
We start around 8am from your hotel and drive west from Manaus for about one hour to the Castanho lake where our host will take you by motorized canoe (no cover typical slow amazonian transport) heading to the jungle where we’ll start a 2-3 hours hike to learn about Amazonian fauna and flora, like medicinal plants, jungle survival etc.
We can't promise you'll see animals because our jungle is very dense and most of our creatures are small, but we will try to show you as much as Mother Nature allows us.
(for this part of the tour you must wear long pants, closed toed shoes. Bring also a rain coat and insect repellent much needed during our wet season)
Duration: 4 hours

Stop At: Balneario Cachoeira do Castanho, AM-070 Km 24, Iranduba, State of Amazonas Brazil
During the wet season (March through August) we have the forests flooded and during the dry season we navigate through the small canals that are formed in the region.
Along this ride ride we search for a good spot to stop and fish for the famous and ferocious piranhas as we enjoy the beauty of the region.
(make sure you have a hat, rain coat, sunscreen and insect repellent).
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Balneario Cachoeira do Castanho, AM-070 Km 24, Iranduba, State of Amazonas Brazil
We will search for a good spot to marvel the most beautiful sunset and see how the nature goes to sleep giving room for the creatures that wake up as the night falls.
Once the sun sets we go searching for the nocturnal creatures and with luck we can get really close to some of them like the caymans for instance.
(you can bring a flashlight for this moment).
We start heading back to Manaus around 7:30pm arriving to your hotel around 8:30pm when all you will want is a shower and bed ;)
Duration: 3 hours

Fabio our guide was so knowledgable. A real pleasure to have him guide us through this momorable experience. The tour was full on for 12 hours and every minute was filled with WOW. If you’re coming to the Amazon and Manaus and don’t have too much time, this company is excellent. From the initial booking to the experience itself, they truly excelled and delivered a brilliant experience. It was so good we cancelled our next day trip and rebooked it with Milton. Thank you Fabio for the lifetime memories. From holding a baby alligator to seeing the most incredible sunset from a boat to eating at Fabios home in the rainforest to swimming with the pink dolphins. Milton was great before the trip with making contact as soon as I had booked. He collected us on the day as well, he was super knowledgeable about the area, giving us a good starting point for the rest of the day. We met our guide at the river and soon headed off in the boat. The whole area was at high water, it was fascinating to see all the drowned buildings that in a few months would be back in use. Our first activity was the walk, this was an easy walk (if you watch out for tree roots), the pace was slow, but only because there was so much to see and learn about. Having a local guide, meant that we were finding out how they lived off the land. Lunch was a varied buffet with fresh fish at one of the eco lodges, which was very peaceful. After lunch we swam with the pink dolphins. This activity works even if you are a non-swimmer, you stand on a platform in the river and the dolphins swim up to you - it is so cool, they are really inquisitive. At the same place we saw the pirarucu, they were huge. If you get the chance to try them, they are also very tasty. I was a bit rubbish at the piranha fishing, but others were more successful. We learnt how they are used by the locals and prepared. Our last activity was the night tour to look for caiman. It still amazes me how the locals can navigate the waterways in the pitch black. Despite this we found a small caiman in the shallows. It was a long, but very enjoyable day and a great introduction to the Amazon region. I'd highly recommend the trip. Our whole day tour of the Amazon exceeded all of our expectations. Our whole day tour of the Amazon exceeded all of our expectations. The tour started at 8:00 when my brother and I, were picked up from our hotel and driven about an hour to a small village where we met up with our boat operator/guide. The ensuing boat ride to the hiking trail weaved through tributaries of the Rio Negro and flooded forests for about 30 minutes until we arrived at the hiking trailhead. The hiking trail is around 2.5km to 3km long with frequent stops where our guide, Milton, talked about the native plants and animals. On our hike we were introduced to the many uses of the local plants and we encountered many different types of birds, a few monkeys, and 2 tarantulas which were quite interesting. After the hiking trip we were taken to a nearby lodge for a hearty meal of fish, chicken, rice, and pasta. At this point of the trip, we were handed off to another guide, Fabio, who was to be our guide for the rest of the trip. Once we finished with lunch, we got back on the boat and went to visit the pink dolphins. What makes this portion of the trip special is that the pink dolphins are not contained within a cage, they come right up to you. Piranha fishing followed the pink dolphin stop. We were taken, again by boat, to a portion of the flooded forest where our guide gave us fishing rods to catch piranha. Being within the flooded forest, hearing the sounds of the birds and the monkeys echo through the trees is a memory I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The piranhas were plentiful and it was interesting to learn that there are different types of differing colors and sizes. The final activity prior to returning to the car was the nighttime caymen spotting. With the sun slowly sinking into the horizon, we were taken to a portion of the forest where caymens could be found. Unfortunately we were not able to see any up close, as the water was too high, but we were able to spot another species of tarantula and nocturnal snake high up in the trees. The sounds of the forest at night, when there is not a light in the sky, is magical and is something that has to be experienced when visiting the Amazon. After the caymen expedition, we were brought back to our disembarkation point where we met with Milton who took us back to our hotel in Manaus. If you only have time for one tour while in Manaus and want to experience the forest in all it's glory, I definitely reccommend you book this tour. The guides, the itenerary, the food, and the landscape leaves your heart full of memories that you will carry with you for rest of your life.
