This activity is a must-do if you are in Pokhara! I contacted Thupten just one day ahead to ask if I could join a tour the next day in November 2021. There was no planed tour, as unfortunately there are still very little tourists due to Covid, but he immediately offered to do a private tour with me. Thupten is an amazing guide; he is extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about sharing the Tibetan culture. I loved listening to all his explanations about the monasteries and village but also about the culture in general and the challenges refugees are facing in Nepal. The tour was, as expected, just great, as described in the many other positive reviews. As I was fortunate enough to be alone with him, we also talked a lot about Buddhism, the Daila Lama and meditation. Thupten also sent me a lot of resources after the tour (names of books, links to videos) about all the topics we talked about which I though was very sweet. Due to another tour, I had in the morning I could “only” do the half day tour but Thupten picked me up an hour earlier and was very generous with his time until dropping me off at my hotel. I only wish I could come back someday and do the full day tour as I am sure I would learn so much more!Thupten was an amazing guide. I learned a lot in a relatively short amount of time, as he is very informative. The tour included a sit down conversation with a monk in his monastery, providing the opportunity for true insights. I highly recommend going with this operator.

We booked this tour as we wanted to experience tibetan culture and something different from daily life in and around Pokhara lakeside. This tour was so much more than we were anticipating! Thupten is such an excellent guide, from the moment we met we were filled with information regarding Tibetan life, culture and history, and his passion for sharing this with visitors was really a pleasure to experience. In the 4 hours, we visited and had a very insightful chat with a Buddhist monk, observed the monks during evening puja at a monastery and then had afternoon tea in a Tibetan family home which were all excellent. However, the knowledge shared with us by Thupten undoubtedly was the highlight of the day for us. This trip opened our eyes to the Tibetan culture and gave us some wonderful memories. All in all, a highly recommended must-do tour if you are visiting the area!First a big Thank you to Thupten for this beautiful tour of Tibetan culture and Buddhism - we would never have got to experience this without you so we are so appreciative!! First a big Thank you to Thupten for this beautiful tour of Tibetan culture and Buddhism - we would never have got to experience this without you so we are so appreciative!! It was just so easy and nice from the beginning, you had no problems changing plans for us and making us feel comfortable. We visited a Tibetan Buddhist monastery which was so beautiful and eye opening, this was then made even more interesting after speaking to Lekshey, a monk, who sat down with us over some tea and answered all our questions! We then proceeded to see his artwork in the monastery that he was working on that blew us away, so intricate. After this we visited the Tibetan refugee settlement and were invited into a home for traditional butter tea and food. All in all it was a great afternoon full of interesting facts and lovely people. Thupten is an amazing guide with fountains of knowledge which you could listen to all day!! We hope to see you soon :)
