I have 2 absolutely great days in Beijing with Lena, the great guide that Catherine Lou has sent to be with my. I considered important to write this review because i imagine a lot of people, like i was, must be a bit scared going to China and not being able to comunicate and get to all places. She was marvelous! I had a driver waiting for me at the airport and we went to the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and the optional acrobatic show (worths a lot!!!). All tickets rapidly bought, no waiting timr at all! Her english was even better than mine and the knowledge of the chinese culture acquired during those days i will never forget. And she takes great pictures!!!! Cannot say nothing but thank you for the lovely days! Strongly recommend this company and, if you have the opportunity to chose, ask for Lena!!! :-)Excellent two day tour. Very flexible, see all the main sights to see with a very nice and informed guide Jenny. Two very nice lunches along the way.

My wife was refused entry into Beijing along with thousands of others, no reason provided.People treated like animals at the airport and threatened with arrest if they spoke out or didn't leave within 24 hrs. My wife was yelled at and told she would be arrested if she didn't stop crying. The Police were clearly enjoying the trauma they were causing and as a 28 year NZ Police vet I was dismayed at their shocking 3rd world behaviour and attitude, I was told "It's our country, we do want we want and we don't need to justify it to you" This was regardless of whether you had a full visa or visa free transit. I entered Beijing to secure our luggage that was landside, my wife flew to Fukuoka to join me at our ships next port, despite being ordered to fly home by the sideshow police at Beijing , we were apart 5 days . I am aware of circa 2000 passengers who didn't board Quantum of the Seas in Beijing & about 1500 that joined in Fukuoka about 500 simply went home as that what the clowns at Beijing were telling them to do. I did the 2 day tour as a refund was unlikely according to Viator/TA, Sophie my guide was fantastic, only person I saw smile in 5 days in Beijing, great to experience the history of the wall etc but all very hollow in retrospect without my wife. We will NEVER return to China and will advise other travelers to avoid the place. FORGET CHINA AS A DESTINATION!!!!!Our communication with Jenna at Catherine Lu Tours was very thorough, professional and helpful from the outset. Our communication with Jenna at Catherine Lu Tours was very thorough, professional and helpful from the outset. We are normally independent travellers, but given the short space of time this was definitely the best way to make the most of our time. We had arranged for a pick up from the airport and had a few hours rest in our hotel before being picked up by our tour guide Amanda and the driver. It was great avoiding the queues around Tiananmen Square, there was no timed wasted. We had an amazing time in the Forbidden City, Amanda’s knowledge was phenomenal and we enjoyed hearing about the tales of the palace. The following day, we had an early 7am pick up to take us to the Great Wall Mutianyu section. Again, we didn’t have to worry about queuing and timing was perfect to see the wall in its glory before the onset of the crowds. Amanda even managed to get us into Michelle Obama’s cable car on the way down. It was well worth paying the extra to go straight to the attractions and make the most of every single minute, we would have wasted a lot of time doing these tours independently. It was also lovely that Amanda ordered our food in the restaurant for us, we very much enjoyed our authentic Chinese meal without the worry of ordering from a Chinese menu ourselves. Would thoroughly recommend booking a tour with Catherine Lu Tours to get the maximum benefit from your time in Beijing. We are happy to spend the weekend in Shangai visiting the city, as forbidden city, great wall... with one very good guide with deep knowledge of Chinisse culture and many experience as guide tour, we are from different countries and all of us were very happy with these days here, also for sure we...

Connie was our Tour guide for the 2 day tour. She was amazing! Connie is kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and treated us with such warm hospitality! She knows her stuff, very knowledgeable about the culture, architecture and history of Beijing! She was constantly checking to be sure we were comfortable and wanting to be sure that we were getting everything out of the tour. She is an experienced tour guide and makes you feel so welcome. Connie also helped us with translations at our hotel when we had some problems! She definitely went over and above to make the tour spectacular for us! Kudos to the whole crew at Catherine Lu Tours. They arranged transportation to and from airports and train stations, and even went further to help us arrange additional tours and transportation in Xian. Catherine and her team are amazing and have EXCELLENT customer service. Thank you Connie, we had a great time!
