Been visiting for 30 years and always appreciated the combination of authentic history, reenactment, period hotel decor and hands on Williamsburg management. Staff have commented that following hiring of consultants, much of the former ambiance has been adjusted and modernized with a focus on trivial rather than substance. In many cases the look and feel of the 18th century has vanished- e.g. the guest rooms at Williamsburg Lodge, the Visitor Center bookstore selections. Costs are highly inflated for everything.Learning about our past history in this area and seeing all of the colonial era buildings that are still standing was the best experience that we have ever had. The area is quaint and provides a great vacation value if you are into past history.

This is a fun trip ,we did it in 2 days . The first day we did colonial williamsburg. Walked the streets and visited the houses and businesses of this time. People dressed in period dress and you can talk to them and they are very friendly. The governor palace is very cool with all the swords on the ceiling . Plenty of stuff to see and do. The second day we did Yorktown and Jamestown. See how it was to actually live in the towns and see what they faced. I love history places and it's fun to bring kids and families to see it. Great trip and great memories you will have.Everyone enjoyed all the museums and educational information. We went to all three areas Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown.
