If you want to go Northern Lights hunting but don't want to get round up with dozens of tourist, our private hut experience is a perfect choice for you. We specialize in small tours only. That way everyone will have our full attention and a chance to get a personalized experience.
We’ll pick you up from your hotel with our comfortable van. To escape the city buzz and experience the true beauty of Finland, we’ll drive to our private lake. We want to show you the thrill of Northern Lights hunting. Locals here are used to Aurora Borealis, but they never take it for granted. In order to see the lights dance in the sky, you need to have good timing and just be lucky enough. Nature is unpredictable, but it's the thrill of a chase that we go for. In addition, we wanted to immerse you in a traditional Lappish experience and take you on a private lake in our authentic Lappish Tipi, to enjoy juicy sausages and hot drinks.
Stop At: Kuusiseläntie, 97670 Rovaniemi, Finland
If the weather is nice, the sky is clear, and the solar activity was in favor of Aurora Borealis we will see the flickering green lights turn in shades of blue and violet. Please note that we can't predict the future, the weather, and whether or not you'll like this tour. However, we can tell you for sure that every time we organize this tour we feel lucky to live in a such beautiful place. We are always happy to tell you more about Finnish lifestyle and to share some interesting stories about Lapland while we enjoy our hot chocolate in a traditional Lappish tipi.

We did two tours with Nordic Adventures in February 2022. We enjoyed the private hut tour but unfortunately didn’t see the lights that night. The hut was about 30 mins drive from Santa’s Village south of Rovianemi. The hut is a little house with a table and chairs. It had plenty of room for warming up. We hung out on the dock on the frozen lake looking for the lights while the kids played in the snow. Our guide Alex was really nice. He made sausages and hot juice and got a sled and snow toys out for the kids. It was great to have the hut to go in and warm up. There is also a rustic bathroom which is a plus when your kids are chugging berry juice! The only con to this tour is that you are in a fixed location and not moving to find the lights. Alex did offer to stop somewhere else on the way back but it was after midnight and our kids were exhausted. This tour ran from 9pm to 1am so keep that in mind with kids. But with the chance to play in the snow and warm up frequently, they were fine for the duration of the tour. Alex also showed us how to set up our camera even though we ended up not taking pictures. We also did the three hour mini bus tour the next night and saw the lights then. If you have time to do a few tours, I’d recommend this one as we had fun despite no lights. If you only have one night to chase lights, I think I’d choose the three hour minibus tour with Nordic Adventures as that one moves around based on the forecast. I was happy to have the chance to try to different tours.. I did a lot of research and I think the price with Nordic Adventures was a bit better than some other companies as not all companies offered a kid rate. I also liked that the group size was maximum 7-8. We were a group of five and ended up with no one else in our tours either night, It would have been fine to have a couple more people but it was nice to spread out in the van and not worry about Covid.
