If you’d like to do something entirely different whilst still learning about the history and visiting the area around the Acropolis then you must book this tour! Wheelz offer superb quality, easy to ride EBikes that allowed us to see some of the monuments that would be outside the tourist areas normally visited in a 2 hour tour window. Our Hosts were owner Nick and Theodore his assistant- we spent time getting to know about each other in the shop before the tour started and were given full instruction and a safety briefing before being allowed to trial the bikes. Once Nick was happy that we were competent we headed for some pedestrianised areas and worked our way up towards the Acropolis stopping off to look at the Theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus where we parked the bikes under the trees and learnt about their history. We climbed Areopagus Hill and looked back at the Acropolis and viewed the city which was spread out for miles below us ! We visited the Temple of Hephaestus which we’d viewed from the top of the hill and was beautifully preserved and then went on to the cemetery at Keramikos where clay nameplates were first used as headstones. We finished the tour looking at the remains of a typical Athenian house with a beautiful mosaic floor before returning to the shop where Nick sent us photos and video of us riding the bikes to keep as a memento - they were outstanding hosts who provided us with bottles of ice cold water and juice throughout the tour and totally looked after us in extreme heat! So many people were open mouthed in awe as we passed by and were very interested in the bikes and how easy they were to ride, a brilliant idea especially in such great heat! We had an amazing once in a lifetime experience with a very personalised service from two customer focused people who clearly love sharing their knowledge about Athens but in an entirely unusual way! This is relatively a new business (opened precovid) and I cannot stress enough what a fantastic idea it is ! Book it .. I promise you won’t be disappointed !!This was such a lovely experience! This was such a lovely experience! We got to see the amazing path around the Acropolis, stopped a couple of times on the important sites to get a feel for them and experienced a quiet site of Athens. Nick was a great, enthusiastic and energetic guide. The scooters are easy to ride and comfortable also on cobbled streets. The tour is very safe and sticks to the pedestrian area. Would definitely recommend.
