What to expect

Visit: Aurora Reykjavik, Grandagardur 2, Reykjavik 101 Iceland

Take a walk through history and learn how people and cultures around the world saw the Northern Lights via legends and myths connected to this amazing phenomenon. In our multimedia exhibition we offer interactive displays as well as a specially equipped ‘photo booth’ where you can learn how to adjust your camera’s settings should you want to try your hand at capturing the auroras yourself.

The high point of your visit to the center will certainly be our theatre where a continuously running HD film is playing throughout the day. Projected onto a 7-meter wide screen, you can sit back and enjoy this 25-minute film that features some of the most magnificent auroral displays seen over Iceland. The film is accompanied by soft music in surround-sound, making this a relaxing and restful experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Our knowledgeable and friendly staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have about the lights and about northern lights photography.

After we chased the northern lights twice at sea on the boat, and didn’t see any, we went at this Centre, very exiting to see all the information and pictures and especially videos. Thank you guys!

WOW this was an impulsive visit but I am so glad we went in, the information is fantastic from reading of other countries that have beliefs in what the light mean to them to the scientific reasons. It is worthy of at least two (possibly three) hours of anyone's time

We attended as family of 5, very visual way of teaching about the northern lights! Some amazing pictures on display- chilled out atmosphere and really pleasant staff. A free cup of tea at the end was very welcome and kids loved the VR experience...

Small but very interesting & informative exhibition explaining the science behind the Northern Light phenomenon & letting you experience it virtually via videos & interactive exhibits. I’d already done a bit of research before I went in as I was hoping to see the lights during my trip, but I came...

Small, but worthwhile. Beautiful images and immersive experience. Really good information and displays to help understand about the northern lights. We visited before going on a northern lights tour which was really helpful.
