What to expect
For those looking to taste the true and traditional flavors of Guatemala, this is the place to visit. During our cooking class you will learn about Guatemalan food and cooking techniques along with culture and a look into everyday life in the village of Jocotenango.
Alongside our chef Carolina and sous chef Iris you will prepare a typical Guatemalan food. You will have the option to choose from different well-known Guatemalan dishes, such as Pepián, Jocón, Kak'ik, Subanik, Tamales, Chiles Rellenos and typical Guatemalan desserts. All the dishes can also be vegetarian. Once we are done with cooking, we will taste your dishes either on our rooftop terrace with a spectacular view of the volcano Agua or in a colonial indoor dining room.

It was a fun experience and we learned about the complex flavors of Guatemalan cuisine. The Cuscun team were very friendly and surprised me with a cake in celebration of my birthday! A wonderful time was had by all.

This was a delightful experience and a great way to get “behind the scenes” in the tourist hub of Antigua Guatemala. We were taken by guide, host, and translator, Giovani, to a clean and attractive facility off the beaten track. It felt like someone’s home. We made a number of local dishes with Senora and her daughter and granddaughter. These included guacamole, hibiscus tea and pepian. It would have been helpful for English to be spoken by more than just our translator so we could have conversed and heard stories more directly. But everyone was gracious and the meal we ended with was delicious! remember to bring a bottle of water and money for a tip. Be ready for a fin time and some great photos.Everything about our experience with Cuscun Cooking School was wonderful! Everything about our experience with Cuscun Cooking School was wonderful! I was honestly a bit hesitant about booking a class for 8 people with only the TripAdvisor reviews to go on, but I am so glad we found and participated in this cooking class. It truly was one of the highlights of our visit to Guatemala. From the time the shuttle picked us up to the end of the evening, everything was taken care of. We had a very thoughtful guide/translator, a wonderful chef, and great food in a beautiful rooftop setting. Our group ranged in age from 25 to 65, and everyone enjoyed the evening/event.
