We went on the Badass Women’s History Tour as part of a bachelorette party. We had so much fun with Joey as our tour guide. His passion and knowledge was evident from the start. His delivery of the stories was super fun while being informational. The tour is just enough time to learn new facts while making you want to go research more. Really fun afternoon! Would recommend to anyone tired of the typical tour.Rebecca is an excellent tour leader. She’s patient and knowledgeable. When I was searching tour options for our trip, I specifically wanted something different than the standard blah blah blah. I was traveling with my daughters (20 & 17) as well as my mother. When I came across this tour, I knew it was perfect! Joey was friendly, engaging, and very knowledgeable about the lesser known aspects of history or what you didn't learn about in boring old history books! This tour was EXCELLENT! If and when we return to Boston, we will definitely book another tour!Rebecca is an insightful and thoughtful tour guide who speaks appropriately to a younger audience. Rebecca is an insightful and thoughtful tour guide who speaks appropriately to a younger audience. She provided a great tour of the historic sites in Old City, highlighting women's contributions to the abolition of slavery, establishment of the State of Pennsylvania, The Philadelphia College of Medicine, the arts, and the LGBTQ movement. She seems to genuinely enjoy interacting with her tour group. I would recommend this tour highly to anyone interested in the history of women's contributions to early Philadelphia.Within the first 5 minutes of the tour, at the same spot near Independence Hall where I had been for several school tours in my younger years, I had already learned something new about a city I’ve lived near for 15 years. Within the first 5 minutes of the tour, at the same spot near Independence Hall where I had been for several school tours in my younger years, I had already learned something new about a city I’ve lived near for 15 years. Ever heard of Hannah Callowhill Penn? I hadn’t… Now that you’ve googled her and how she effectively managed PA after her far more commemorated husband William (otherwise known as Billy), maybe you have a taste of just the beginning of the badass Philadelphia women who receive tributes on the tour - doctors, organizers, artists, escaped slaves, businesspeople - from diverse facets of the city’s storied history. Rebecca, Joey and the Beyond the Bells team are doing a public service to begin to fill in the gaps left between the limited 10 of 300 public sculptures in the city that memorialize women.Engaging and thought-provoking tour. Engaging and thought-provoking tour. Definitely time well spent exploring the city in wonderful company. Becca and Joey are friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming, professional, and fun. Learned a lot about the history of the city that is primarily unknown by the general public, and have a greater appreciation for the area, it’s history, and the work still being done by activists, badass women, and queer folk.
