Paul is an excellent teacher - knowledgeable, focused, patient, and generous. He pushed me to explore a challenge and develop new photographic techniques in a gentle and helpful way. I really enjoyed my tours as they were about photography. As requested, Paul tailored my tours to included Iconic sites and none-tourist areas of the Bangkok. He gave important hints and advice but did leave the me with the freedom to develop my own personal approach. His help dramatically improved my skills as we got to see and interact with day to day life within parts of Bangkok and with some of the people of Chinatown. Paul is passionate about photography. I learned how to get more out of my camera while experiencing parts of Bangkok that not all tourists visit. Whether you are new to, or an experienced photographer, Paul will help you to become better while having a fun and interesting experience. I've taken many photo tours. Most are point and shoot activities where the guide takes you to an interesting location, points you in the direction and then moves on to the next shot. It's usually up to you to get a good result.Paul was an excellent guide and teacher. As a relatively new photographer, I learned a lot from him and had a great time in the process. Paul was an excellent guide and teacher. As a relatively new photographer, I learned a lot from him and had a great time in the process. After meeting Paul, we started our tour in Chinatown, exploring the alleys and buildings along the way. He was more than willing to personalize the tour based on what I was interested in. After Chinatown, we moved on to Wat Arun, where he shared more of his knowledge on things to look for to capture an interesting photo. He opened my eyes to things I never considered before taking a shot. It was a wonderful experience. I would recommend it to anyone that is considering taking a photo tour in Bangkok.I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I met with Paul (he's a talented award winning photo guy) in the mid-day heat of Bangkok for our tour. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I met with Paul (he's a talented award winning photo guy) in the mid-day heat of Bangkok for our tour. Once we settled in and chatted over a cool drink we started to uncover a bit more of what I was hoping to see and learn. It took a little to find our groove but Paul started working in the photo lessons, looking for examples as we went. He's able to help teach camera techniques, but also guiding concepts of the most important piece of equipment - you! We walked through alleys, parking lots, apartments, markets, and only a few temples, looking for that unique person or story to shoot with the lens. Long day but pretty darn cool. He can help make it as touristy or raw as you are comfortable with, in this sites and vibes of the city. I loved the continued learning and wish I had more time! I recommend having a think about what you want to get out of the day and bring some cash along for drinks, snacks, tuk tuks etc.I booked on to the 8am 3-hour tour with Paul last week on a bit of a whim, but so glad I did. I booked on to the 8am 3-hour tour with Paul last week on a bit of a whim, but so glad I did. Paul clearly has a wealth of knowledge both in photography and in the local areas in which we explored, he's generous with the knowledge offering loads of tips and tricks, particularly once we'd explored a bit about my own motivations. One thing I was interested in was heading off the beaten track, which we definitely did, ducking down alleyways, local markets, residential buildings and areas in which, frankly, I'd be far too apprehensive to fully explore on my own. And with that managed to capture some great shots - in my humble opinion! Aperture were great with the pre and post tour communication, even sending out some technical notes following the tour, which will come in handy. My only problem now is getting back to Bangkok to shoot some more there! Thanks Paul/Aperture.I did the Night Photo Tour with Paul! It was an amazing experience.
