We are an extended family of 12 people ranging in age from 9 to 70. Our Christmas present to each other this year was to spend Christmas week in Hopkins, Belize. While there, we arranged 2 adventures with a company located in Hopkins called Get To Know Belize Adventures. I started researching things to do in the Hopkins area about 5 months prior to our arrival and booked 2 adventures about 4 months prior to our arrival. Josie at Get To Know Belize Adventures was so prompt answering all my questions and making sure our adventure was just what we wanted. She is a super gal to work with! Our first adventure was cave tubing at St. Herman’s cave. Our driver, Joe, picked us promptly at 8:00 am and drove us to the cave (about an hour and a half from Hopkins). Two tour guides met us and got us outfitted with helmets, life vests, and inner tubes. After a short walk to the cave, we were given a geological and Maya history overview of the cave. We then spent about 2 hours drifting on the water running through the cave. Great fun! On the way back to Hopkins, Joe agreed to stop at a “Blue Hole” swimming spot. We arrived back in Hopkins about 2:00 pm. Our second adventure was a day of fishing and snorkeling. We had 3 guides, Steven, Jeremy, and Jeremiah. We were picked up at 8:00 am on one of the docks, motored out to a mangrove island and spent about 45 minutes netting sardines for bait. We then went to deeper water to troll for barracuda. We had 3 pr 4 strikes but the first fisherman was a bit inexperienced and could not land the fish. An older boy took over and brought in a barracuda - not large but a keeper. After about 45 minutes we went to a reef to do bottom fishing. Some used rods and reels, some used hand lines. 7 or 8 people were fishing at once and had great success catching red tail and yellow tail snapper and porgi. Our morning of fishing ended with 23 fish in the live well. We then went to Bread and Butter Island for a box lunch, toilet facilities, and some relaxing. After lunch, all 12 of us snorkeled for several hours over a coral reef. What an awesome day. Back at dock, we kept 7 fish for our evening meal. Our guides cleaned them for us and the meal we cooked was awesome! I give 2 thumbs up and 5 stars to Get To Know Belize Adventures for the wonderful way were were treated and the truly fun time we all had. This is my second time doing a tour with Medz and Jeffrey. We booked private for the six of us. Hands down one of the best trips ever. We fished, snorkeled, and went to Bread and Butter Island. These guys are so knowledgeable and funny. Try them out you won't regret it.

We went on the 'private snorkel/fishing and cook your catch' excursion with Medz and Jeff. I had never fished before but the idea sounded fun and would help to break up the day with the snorkeling on the amazing barrier reef. Medz and Jeff took such great care of us, and we got to participate as much as we cared to with catching and prepping bait, fishing, and the cleaning and cooking (we watched that part)! The snorkeling was some of the best I've done in Belize, and the fresh-made ceviche (conch and lion fish), and grilled snapper were sooooo good! I would pay just to have Medz make ceviche for me!! I highly recommend Get To Know Belize Adventures and we plan to make them one of our 'regular' tour guides!Metz was a great guide. If adventure is calling this is a must do. Trust Metz, and enjoy the journey.

If I could leave 6 stars I would. Belize is amazing and these to upped it on a great day of fishing and snorkeling. Medz has a personality that is chill and he is master of his craft. Has a million stories and seems to know facts about everything you could ask him. One of those guys that has been doing something he loves for decades and has been paying attention the whole time. If you are chill and let him do his thing, the day will be like a movie. Cruising around microbursts to keep us dry, catching bait, pointing out sea cows and other wildlife, on and on. Of course we caught a cooler of fish, all different kinds, that we ate. Let me tell you, these guys can fish and they also know how to cook! Jeffery led us on our snorkeling and the guy had eyes to find everything. A turtle, sting ray, sharks, barracuda, and hundreds of tropical fish. I don’t even think I can tell my friends anything that would come close to describing it. I’m not sure what else is offered in Hopkins but I doubt it would be a safe and worth it.
