Become a French Wine Expert with an Intimate Wine Tasting
Overview
Hi, I'm Caroline and I'm a wine expert who knows how confusing wine can be. After 15 years of sommelier experience and professional qualifications (WSET 4), I'm here to make things simple and fun for you.
Tastings take place around my authentic dinner table in a converted historic 19th Century silk factory in the Croix-Rousse neighborhood. You'll love seeing firsthand how the locals live!
I purchase all your wines at local vineyards. I work with small, independent wineries that focus on quality and sustainability. You will always learn about Beaujolais, Burgundy, and the Northern Rhône, but I may also include other hidden gems from nearby. I'll never serve anything that comes from further than 2 hours away!
Rather than spending all day in the car to visit one region and taste the same few wines over and over, how about spending a relaxing afternoon in some air-conditioning and getting real quality time with an expert somm?
Inclusions
- Snacks - Tastings include local cheese, charcuterie, and baguette.
- Alcoholic Beverages - Wine
What to expect
During this intimate experience, you’ll gain a deep knowledge of French wine through your guided tasting with an expert teacher. With a maximum of 6 participants including yourself, you’re guaranteed the freedom to ask questions and engage deeply.
Your intimate wine tasting takes place in a real Lyonnais home, an authentic escape from typical mass market tours. You’ll be welcomed as a guest around the dinner table in a 19th Century silk factory turned modern apartment.
You'll start by enjoying a glass of local sparkling wine on the couch while you meet your wine teacher and new wine loving friends.
Next you'll head to the table to taste through 3 whites and 3 reds, learning about wine tasting technique, French wine as a whole, and each of the individual wines.
All wines were chosen for you to experience the variety of our local wines and always include Beaujolais, Burgundy, and the Rhône.
You'll also enjoy a fabulous local cheese & charcuterie board to accompany all that wine!
Sample Menu
• At least 7 Glasses of Amazing Local Wine - We always start with bubbles, then we enjoy 3 whites and 3 reds. All local, small production, sustainable.
• Cheese & Charcuterie Board - Local cheese & cold cuts with seasonal fruit and the best artisan bread.
