Stop At: Lama Temple (Yonghegong), No.12 Yonghegong Street, Beixinqiao, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100007 China
You will meet your guide and tuktuks at an easy-to-find central location near Beijing's Lama Temple and then wind your way through the narrow streets and alleys of Beijing's hutongs. We only try the best local food in the city at places where only locals go that are truly off the beaten path. You won't see any other tourists, these are family-run restaurants that you can't find on your own. Between food stops, you'll be able to chat with your English-speaking guide about the city while drinking unlimited local beer. While visiting our 4-5 food stops, you will get to learn about the families that have been making their specialties for generations. You'll learn how it's made and what makes it so special to Beijing locals. You will grill your own meat at a local BBQ joint, eat the best hand-made noodles in Beijing, and wrap delicious dishes in freshly made Beijing pancakes, plus more! The tour will finish at a local brewery with a pint of Beijing craft beer.

Zipping through the tight alleyways of Beijing on a Tuk Tuk with a cold beer in hand. Stopping at small restaurants to try the most amazing food! Couldn’t recommend this more. We stopped at four family owned places and trued different food in each one. The last was my favourite but the first was the most spectacular. If your beer ran low, there would be another waiting for you. The tour finishes in a local brewery with an excellent selection of beer on tap! Our guide Murong was brilliant. So friendly and couldn’t do more for the group. Great night.Due to the pandemic measures in place the tour has been slightly amended but we were thrilled to try the new restaurants proposed. Due to the pandemic measures in place the tour has been slightly amended but we were thrilled to try the new restaurants proposed. The walking (for now too hard to get tuk tuks into some hutongs) was not too strenuous and as a result we felt much less guilty eating so much delicious food. We loved the hip Chengdu restaurant, the Beijing hot pot and the spicy Chongqing dumplings most of all, but every venue was amazing. Thank you so much for bouncing back and innovating new tours. This was our 4th or 5th tour with Lost Plate and we will definitely be booking more!!!In November 2019 i was in Beijing for about a week. In November 2019 i was in Beijing for about a week. Because I'm a foodie it was my mission to get a taste of the real China. Initially I had booked the Hutong Evening tour. It turned out to be the absolute culinary jackpot..! I loved it so much, I ended up booking two more Lost Plate tours that became part of my all time favourite travel memories.. <3 On my first tour a very kind guide welcomed everyone outside the tube station. And before we knew it we were transported in adventurous Tuk Tuks to get a taste of the real authentic streetfood of Beijing.... You can tell the stops are selected with care and are definitely not commercial or touristy. Just great everyday food, loved by the locals. Some of the best places were located in the deepest corners of the hutongs and are impossible to find on your own. We had amazing noodles, very tasty bbq dishes, pancakes of dreams a fried bun that was so good I still talk about it... The knowledge of the guide, the chatty and fun atmosphere in the group and of course the memorable dishes made this a one of a kind experience. I liked it so much that I ended up booking the Breakfast tour and the taste of China's Provences tour as well. The breakfast tour is also highly recommended and samples a lot of dishes that I wouldn't have been able to experience without this tour. If your trip is limited to Beijing alone, the restaurant tour gives you a taste of the rest of China. Whatever tour you book (and you cannot go wrong): please don't eat anything beforehand... there is so much food to try and so much flavour to explore... make sure you'll experience it all. At last a special thanks to the lovely Kelly who made sure I was able to attend the third tour on the last moment. If I will ever visit other places where Lost Plate is active, I won't hesitate a second. Keep up the great work! Our tour guide was awesome and very personable. The four food stops were perfect and the brewery was quite amazing too. Thank you for the awesome experience.

Wow what can I say? What an INCREDIBLE experience this was. If you love food and want to explore Beijing like a local, this is exactly the way to do it. Such a wide variety of different foods and different places to see. Our guide Sabrina was sensational. She was so sweet and she was able to answer so many of our questions. We had an excellent rapport with her and would recommend this tour to anyone. Wrap up warm if it is winter, and come with an empty stomach! Literally faultless in every way.
