Belize City Tour
Overview
Belize City was founded (originally as “Belize Town”) in 1638 by British lumber harvesters. It had previously been a small Maya city called Holzuz.
Belize Town slowly improved its infrastructure and has been the object of numerous infrastructural projects. Nevertheless, many of the streets built from colonial days are still small and congested, a majority of houses are still susceptible to fire and damage from hurricanes.

Dennis Hislop Jr. (Dennis the Menace) was such a wonderful tour guide on our recent Belize City Tour!! He was so enthusiastic, fun, and very knowledgeable of the places that he took us to! It was a wonderful excursion because of Dennis!! He was so proud of his country and it showed. He spoke with such exuberance and excitement and made the tour very enjoyable. He answered all our questions and was a delight to be with. We talked with Jason on the pier and decided to tour the city and visit the ruins. "Jungle Jim" was our tour guide and driver of the air conditioned van. His historical knowledge as well as understanding of everyday little things that peek tourist interest was AMAZING! We even stopped at a rum distillery and got a sample! "Jungle Jim" stopped several times for us to make photos of things of interest.. . Such as an iguana on a fence . So happy we talked with Jason at the pier! This was the best excursion we have ever taken. Hope to get to go back to Beleze one day and take another excursion with "Jungle Jim"!We walked out of the Cruise Terminal #2 and booked directly with Belize Caribbean Tours. We walked out of the Cruise Terminal #2 and booked directly with Belize Caribbean Tours. It was a 2 hour tour of the North and South sides of the country - it is not an island as our fabulous tour guide Dennis told us. We also had an opportunity to take a 2 hour excursion to this great beach stop along the way for $10, but opted not to because we already had too much sun the day before. However, our adults kids stayed and LOVED it. We continued on to the rum factory for samples. We purchased a local bottle for $10. We were very pleased with their professionalism and knowledge. It's much cheaper than booking a tour with the cruise ship.
