What to expect

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Namib Desert

Stop At: Namib-Naukluft National Park, C27, Sesriem Namibia
Arriving in Namibian capital Windhoek. Tour of the historic city centre with its distinctive influence of German architecture. Then drive to the Namib Naukluft Park – the oldest desert in the world, housing about 200 species of animals.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Sesriem Canyon, 4.5km from the entrance gate of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei, Namib-Naukluft Park Namibia
Walk to the Sesriem Canyon, sculpted for centuries by the river Tsauchab. Travellers can go down the stairs carved in the rocks and at the bottom admire the strange forms of the walls of the gorge.

Day 2: Sous Vlei

Stop At: Namib Desert, Sossusvlei, Namib-Naukluft Park Namibia
Departure at sunrise to the orange dunes of Sossusvlei, watching the sun rising over the highest dunes in the world, reaching more than 300 meters high. Climbing the dune from which we observe an unusual play of light on the edges of the sand hills.
In the afternoon we drive through the oldest desert in the world, Naukluft and admire charming Kuiseb river gorge. In the afternoon we arrive in Walvis Bay, Namibia’s main port. We watch huge flocks of flamingos, pelicans and other water birds in the bay. Drive to Swakopmund – Coastal town that is a veritable oasis for any traveller after a long desert journey. We travel through a wonderful Sheltered promenade decorated with palm trees and flowers into the City and drive the main streets with it’s interesting German influenced architecture.

Day 3: Swakopmund - Moon Landscape - Welwitschias

Stop At: Moon Landscape, c28 Namibia
After breakfast we drive to see unusual lunar desert landscapes and endemic, oldest, nearly one thousand years old plants: Welwitschias. Then we are leaving for the journey through the Skeleton Coast National Park. Moving towards the North through the vast and isolated coast, where we enjoy magnificent views of the dunes, the ocean, and shipwrecks. Such landscapes bring us to the Cape Cross – a multi-thousand colony of seals. Then we return to the area covered by savannah and mountains

Day 4: Twyfelfontein, Damaraland, Khorixas

Stop At: Petrified Forest, Khorixas Namibia
Today we depart after breakfast and drive North, we pass through the SPITZKOPPE HILLS and we get to the Brandberg Mountains – a spectacular collection of prehistoric rock paintings made by Bushmen four thousand years ago.

Day 5: Desert Elephants of Damaraland

Stop At: Palmwag, Palmwag, Damaraland
Today we drive up North to trek the desert elephants of Damaraland. The lodge is situated in Torra conservancy, a natural habitat for these elusive creatures.
WE have an optional rhino trekking the next morning.

Day 6: Etosha Safari

Stop At: Etosha Pan, Etosha National Park Namibia
Full day safari in the reserve, where we admire the unique and dramatic scenery (deep blue sky and white sands of the desert) in addition to countless herds of zebras, springboks, giraffes, wildebeest and elephants. The Reserve of an area of 22, 000 km square has 144 species of mammals, over 340 species of birds and 110 species of reptiles. Watching the daily migrations of herds of animals on the open spaces of Etosha in search of water is an unforgettable experience.
Duration: 6 hours

Stop At: Damaraland, Damaraland
Today we depart after breakfast and drive to Etosha in Kaokoland: exceptional, combining the dense bush with large open areas of the bottom of the salt lake. At the center of the park is the Etosha Pan (salt lake) – shallow depression about 4500 square kilometers, which is dry for most of the year, and filled with water to a depth of 1 m only during heavy rains. Dinner and overnight in the lodge inside of Etosha reserve.

Day 7: Etosha Safaris

Stop At: Etosha National Park, Etosha National Park, Oshikoto Region

Day 8: Etosha East Safaris

Stop At: Namutoni, Namibia
Awake to the sounds of the bush as you explore the park on an early morning game drive before returning to camp for a refreshing drink and lunch. This afternoon you have time to relax and gaze out to the waterhole and watch as the game lazily congregates in the shade to escape the heat.
As the afternoon progresses you may like to explore the National Park on an afternoon game drive. The beauty of the park unfolds as you venture out into the baobab scattered landscape. Return to camp to freshen up before meeting around the campfire for a pre-dinner drink as you discuss the day's adventures.

Day 9: Erindi Private Nature Reserve

Stop At: Erindi Game Reserve, Erindi Game Reserve, Erongo Region
The Erindi area used to be a cattle farm and unfortunately its cattle caused some damage to the natural vegetation. However, Gert Joubert and his nephew Paul bought the farm and started to phase out cattle farming and replaced this with numerous species of wildlife and in 2007, it was approved as a nature conservation venture. Over the years Erindi has successfully transformed itself into an eco-tourism and conservation venture with specific programs established to rehabilitate both the land and animals that live in the reserve which include wildebeest, elephant, springbok, lion and even aardvark and monitor lizards. This afternoon, the included game drive roams through the reserve with a qualified and knowledgeable guide in the comfort of an open 4×4 vehicle.

Day 10: Windhoek

Enjoyed the lovely scenery in Namibia . The guides were also excellent . The unique Himba people were an exception
