Pompeji is an amazing site, with an equally amazing history. It was obvious from the beginning of this tour, that Alex has a deep personal interest in Pompei and it showed throughout. His enthusiasm for the place and his personality made this tour a very engaging experience, and his English is perfect. We can highly recommend Alex for anyone who is looking for a tour of Pompeji.Alex is by far one of the most knowledgeable and personable guides I've ever had. Alex is by far one of the most knowledgeable and personable guides I've ever had. We were lucky to have him to ourselves and he customized the tour to fit both our needs (2 year old son) and our interests. He stayed with us an extra hour at no additional charge and, if I could back in time, I would pay him double as a tip. He very clearly has a passion for Pompeii that is more than just the sum of his scholarly interest and his being a local of the city, he truly loves the history, the story, and sharing his passion with others. I cannot recommend his tour more highly than the max number of stars, but I wish that I could!Firstly, this was my 4th visit, my partner’s first. So Alex was tasked with customising our visit to meet both levels of experience- and I learned so much that was new. He spoke English perfectly, as well as reading Latin. Firstly, this was my 4th visit, my partner’s first. So Alex was tasked with customising our visit to meet both levels of experience- and I learned so much that was new. He spoke English perfectly, as well as reading Latin. He communicated with us before our visit perfectly to help it go smoothly. He answered every question by showing us examples to illustrate his answer. He gave us years of knowledge in 3 hours. Why visit such a destination without investing in someone to tell you about it: it was a crash course given by an expert. He knew shortcuts and examples which were off the beaten track, so we maximised our time, rather than queuing. This was my best visit, and the best investment in our time in Pompeii. We cannot recommend Alex more.Do you want a knowledgeable guide that is passionate and engaging on the subject, has excellent command of English, and is prompt? Do you want a knowledgeable guide that is passionate and engaging on the subject, has excellent command of English, and is prompt? Search no further, Alessandro is your man. We first used him for Herculaneum and within 30 minutes, I made plans for him to guide us at Pompeii a few days later. He impressed the 4 of us and we spent time commenting on how great a day we had and how much we learned. Excellent!Alex what is a fabulous guide with impeccable English and Italian. All of the other guides in the seemed to like and respect him. He is a local and I actually grew up in Pompeii and as a child playing in the old streets while his grandfather guided. He is enthusiastic and loves the place!
