Many thanks to Nicholas for the tour which went very well. Our special thanks to Michael for explaining everything so clearly and we were very impressed by his local and historical knowledge. Michael went out of the way to arrange the pottery tour for kids even though we were running late after Lindos and we really appreciate his gesture. Michael's suggestion about the 9D movie experience and submarine tour was spot on and we really enjoyed both the attractions. We just returned from our Greek Island cruise. We just returned from our Greek Island cruise. While in Rhodes we were lucky to connect with Nicholas from Rhodes Private Tours. After a simple email to Nicholas we had our perfect day planned. Customized to what we wanted to see and do. I was concerned about a non ship tour, but we decided to take a chance and so happy we did. As we left the ship we saw our driver Emmanuel and Nicholas waiting just off the ship with a sign for us. Emmanual was an AMAZING guide. He knows all about the history of Rhodes and when we asked about olive oil tastings he took us to a small farm stand. We were able to taste and buy some of the best olive oil I have ever tasted! We requested a local lunch and Emmanual took us to a wonderful restaurant on the beach. He suggested we get some dishes to share. Such a perfect afternoon. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our tour and our driver.Andreas was an absolute star and he provided us with good insight about the island, always sharing some anecdotes, small interesting bits of info, and very accommodating without being too much into your face. Andreas was an absolute star and he provided us with good insight about the island, always sharing some anecdotes, small interesting bits of info, and very accommodating without being too much into your face. He picked the best spots to take photos, which I as an enthusiastic hobby photographer, really appreciated. Overall, the tour was fantastic and we are so glad that we extended for two hours to see even more of the coast and also enjoyed the superb lunch at Argo. Thank you for making this day one of our highlights of the whole cruise, and also for giving us an appetite to come back to Rhodes, especially Lindos and Rhodes City.We have used the services of Rhodes Private Tours three times, including the most recent one on a cruise ship stop in July 2022. We have used the services of Rhodes Private Tours three times, including the most recent one on a cruise ship stop in July 2022. Our first visit was in 1999 during a very short cruise in the eastern Med, and we arranged for a tour on-line (way before Tripadvisor) with a company operated by Nicholas Rhodes and brother, Michael, that offered what we wanted. Nicholas was our driver for a half-day tour that started in the Old Town of Rhodes and then went south. Because we liked the Med and Rhodes so much in 1999, we booked another cruise in 2000 with a stop on Rhodes and again arranged a tour with Rhodes Private Tours that spent more time around Lindos, with Nicholas as our driver once more. We could not have been more satisfied with what we saw and still have photos to prove it (my first year shooting digital). After a long gap, we booked another eastern Med cruise in 2022 that included a stop at Rhodes. Naturally, we checked to see whether Rhodes Private Tours was functioning and were extremely happy to find out that it is. After a short email exchange with Nicholas re-introducing ourselves, we scheduled a tailored 5-hour two-person tour of Rhodes, mainly Lindos with other photo stops. We also asked for a lunch stop somewhere not over-run with tourists. When our ship docked in the morning at Rhodes Town, both Nicholas and Michael were there to greet us, and Micheal was our driver for the day in a comfortable MB sedan. Because Lindos was packed with tourists, Michael dropped us off at the lower end and we walked and shopped at our own pace through the town to meet him at Donkey Square. (Lindos is quaint and picturesque but incredibly crowded in summer). After that we drove back toward Rhodes Town and stopped for lunch along the way at an uncrowded beachfront restaurant on a small bay not named after Anthony Quinn. The drive finished at the Palace of the Grand Master and we walked back through Old Town our own to our ship. The tour was exactly what we wanted and we highly enjoyed our return to Rhodes. Rhodes Private Tours is the perfect choice for ship travelers who stop for a relatively short time on Rhodes and want to break free from ship excursions. They are reliable, punctual, knowledgeable, flexible and super friendly. They WILL be there at the dock when you go ashore and the vehicle will be comfortable and well-maintained. Based on our three experiences spread out over 23 years, we highly recommend Rhodes Private Tours. You can’t do any better on Rhodes regardless of what type of tour you book.Acropolis of Lindos had some of the most amazing remains and even better views of the island. Acropolis of Lindos had some of the most amazing remains and even better views of the island. The bays were beautiful but the only thing that could have been better is if the excursion group pre-ordered our acropolis ticket as we had to wait in line for about 40 minutes in the blistering heat. Also be aware it is a very long drive and future travelers should go earlier in the morning as the Acropolis is one of the last places we visited. Walking through the Medieval city was quite and awesome experience, not to mention they have Fish Spas you can visit. Anthony Quinn Bay was also a very nice spot to take a quick dip as the scenery is beautiful. Our guide, Manuel was very nice. He had great knowledge of the beautiful plants and crops on the island. He stopped at several fantastic spots for photo opportunities. It was a great day.
