I think our guide and his team were wondering what a couple of 66 year old gringos were doing on a class III-IV rafting trip. But, my wife and I had done a fair amount of canoeing, kayaking, and rafting in whitewater and we had a blast! Our team leader, Arturo, was an expert navigator and knew the river like the back of his hand. Juan Carlos came along in a kayak as a scout and photographer and was amazing to watch as he worked the rapids. It was a great exhilarating trip that we thoroughly enjoyed. We were even served fresh coconut juice, cassava, and fresh fruit at the end. Along with a demonstration on pressing sugar cane. And Luis had also taken us on a short nature hike along the river explaining a lot of the flora and fauna next to the river. Again, a wonderful experience with a top- notch outfit.ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE!! We went white water rafting here for the first time yesterday and had such an amazing time. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE!! We went white water rafting here for the first time yesterday and had such an amazing time. From the very first moment we arrived I knew it was going to be good, the staff were professional and everything was very clear and chilled. The venue has everything you need and is in a beautiful setting. We has some food at the start; fresh fruit and coconut water, which was delicious and after the white water rafting changed our plans to stay on longer to eat lunch there, which was really worthwhile. The food was delicious and the hosts were absolutely brilliant. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The white water rafting was without doubt the best outdoor activity I have ever done! After we'd had a relaxing drink a bite to eat and met the other tourists, we all got in a bus with the rafts behind us and during the 20 min drive had the safety briefing. We arrived and quickly got equipped with the necessary gear and were in the boat with our instructor, Louis, who was so clear and calm and made the experience so enjoyable. There were 8 of us in total so split up 4 in two boats. As soon started paddeling, I could not stop smiling on our way down the rapids; it was such an amazing experience! I can't wait to do it again. I would 100% recommend Sarapiqui Outdoor Center; absolutely brilliant in all areas. I will definitely be back to Costa Rica just to experience this again!Did a lot of research before picking a place to do white water rafting - totally new to it and did not know what to expect. No wasted time on this trip, brilliant organisation with a real emphasis on fun. 100% doing it again. No photo of the place does it justice - unbelievably gorgeous river full of wildlife along the way. Do the toughest grade on offer - you won’t regret it.This was such an amazing experience! This was such an amazing experience! The scenery along the river was beautiful and our guide pointed out lots of different kinds of birds, plants, and other animals as we rode along (while there were no rapids). I felt safe the entire time because we were well prepared with instructions beforehand. I could not stop laughing the entire time because the rapids were so fun! Afterwards, we had freshly cut pineapple, oranges, yuka, and coconut and even got to grind sugarcane into juice. The location of the site was so beautiful and our tour guide David was so passionate and fun. This is a family-run business and the staff made us feel like part of the family. If you are looking for white water rafting, this is the one to choose!!Our family of four (including two teenage boys) enjoyed our half day of class III-IV whitewater rafting under the expert guidance of David. Our family of four (including two teenage boys) enjoyed our half day of class III-IV whitewater rafting under the expert guidance of David. Our boys thought it was one of their best days out in Costa Rica. Though it was definitely a challenge negotiating the rapids, the very professional and safety conscious approach was reassuring - and kept us focused on the task at hand. David also made sure to keep me (definitely the weakest and most fearful member of our team) safe - and most importantly in the raft! His upbeat attitude more generally was appreciated - as was his knowledge about the local area and wildlife. We also enjoyed the food and sugar cane juice tasting after the rafting. The video of our experience (bought at extra cost) is also a nice memory. This family run business should not be left off your list of activities in Costa Rica. This family run business should not be left off your list of activities in Costa Rica. There is a through safety briefing and drills before going on the river. The guide was very knowledgeable about both rafting and all the wildlife you see on the river. He is clearly very experienced. Afterwards we were treated to some local Yuca, pineapple and coconut milk followed by a lesson on a sugar cane drink. I have done this type of activity a number of times before and this was a fantastic experience. Well worth the time and money. Tip- They are very responsive if you enquire via FB messenger and we did the entire trip direct as they also arranged our transport there and back. All very easy. muchas gracias, Pura Vida 👍🏻
