The trip kayaking to Laguna Grande Bay was incredible! Starting through the mangroves was a thrilling adventure and it seemed surreal! The bay was beautiful by moonlight. Unfortunately we couldn’t see the bioluminescence too well because there had recently been too much rain. We did get to see it under the dark tarp, but it looked nothing like Instagram. Thank you Taleia, and AJ for a great experience!Positives: includes round trip transfer to bio bay. Tour guides were friendly and the trip was fun and the bioluminescence was unique. Positives: includes round trip transfer to bio bay. Tour guides were friendly and the trip was fun and the bioluminescence was unique. They had a locker which could hold all the bags and cell phones under lock which was nice. Watch items: many tour operators doing this tour and the kayak out to the bay featured many traffic jams of two way kayak traffic. Couple the crowds with lack of experience in kayaking for some and it was less than ideal. Bathroom facilities were third world with no toilet paper in the bathrooms. Not sure what the septic situation was but the smell of raw sewage permeated the area. The operator could have done a better job of explaining timing and what to expect (eg tour will assemble at 845 and end around 1030 etc; tandem kayaks; the reason you will get wet from the waist down is the dripping of water from the paddle into kayak etc.). Would probably not do it again but just average experience overall. We booked our trip with the family and were excited about the experience. Communication leading up to the event was great! We booked our trip with the family and were excited about the experience. Communication leading up to the event was great! The time was an hour later than I had previously booked but they told us in advance. The guides were very friendly especially Emily. And the gentlemen checking us in werefriendly and really nice. There were a lot of people in our group and also with the other companies that were at the bay. (10 groups total which made the kayaking very crowded and it was difficult not to crash into other boats in the pitch black. The experience overall was good but I would have preferred less people and it also would have been helpful to have more education about kayaking before we boarded the trip. Knowing how to navigate the with the crowds would have been a better experience. The flagellates were very hard to see and that was a bit disappointing too but no fault to the tour company. Just lower your expectations about seeing the glow in the water. The kayaking through the canopy of trees was thrilling. I loved the animal sounds and darkness. Totally worth the trip.
