The company staff are very enjoyable. They are devoted to sharing this fun experience. Much of the experience is the paddling in the dark, through the mangrove forest. The unique bioluminescent plankton are a wonder of nature and that is a subtle experience. It has to be appreciated as that. It is not a man made a 4rth of July or Star Wars explosion. Just like life, it is also about the journey and the people that you are with, not just the destination. We really enjoyed the guide’s enthusiasm and the paddling in the dark. The tour was well organized and so much fun! It was the highlight of our vacation. It helps if you have basic kayak skills but it is not necessary. There are many guides who are there to help every step of the way.

While this tour company and its employees did a fine job themselves, I did not find this to be an enjoyable experience. Each of the tour guides were incredibly friendly, energetic, and knowledgable, however the problem is that the entire bioluminescent bay tour as an industry is completely oversaturated. There should be a stricter cap on the number of operational tour companies at a given bioluminescent bay location, as well as a limit on the number of kayakers that can be out there at a time. There was an outrageous number of people going through the mangroves at the same time from various companies/tour groups that it was a complete traffic jam on the water in the pitch black dark of night. It was like playing bumper cars with kayaks. Then, when you actually make it out to the lake the bioluminescence was pretty underwhelming. Sure, you saw a dimly lit milky-white cloud if you shook your hand in the water, but its nothing like the electric bright blue you see advertised some places. Honestly, I think I would have enjoyed this tour much more if we had done it during the day when you can actually see the mangroves- I think I would have found them to be more impressive than the bioluminescence. But none of it will be worth it until they lesson the amount of kayakers allowed out there at a time.
