Since then the Blue Lagoon has become one of world´s most famous baths and spas in the world!

Helga is such a warm and open person that really cares about your experience! She will show you some corners of Reykjavik that are out of walking distance which was great. But more importantly it feels you are going there with a good friend who tells you stories and provides you with guidance. When going to the Blue Lagoon, this is the way you want to go! Absolutely worth it.The tour was well organized by our host Helga. She was extremely informative and always willing. The blue lagoon has to be visited to get a real feel experience and this tour fulfills that. Definitely recommended.

It seems that the majority of tourists visit the Blue Lagoon while on their way to, or from, the airport. This is because the lagoon is very close to the airport, while being a 40 min drive from the hotels in Reykjavik. However, this is not an ideal way to visit the world-famous BL. It deserves to be more than a stop between airport and hotel. It is a magical place of milky-blue geothermal waters with other-worldly rising steam, surrounded by a spectacular Icelandic landscape. (There is even a swim-up bar—one free drink!) I have traveled to many countries and experienced many adventures, but when I stepped at dusk into the hot, rejuvenating waters of the ethereal BL and bobbed around in delight, I said to myself “I can’t believe this!" So, to experience the BL right after, or before, a long and stressful plane flight is not to do the place justice. The BL has to be savored—peacefully and reflectively—in a time slot of its own. Thus, Travelling Iceland’s roundtrip tour to the BL from Reykjavik is perfect. For us, the tour was also great for another reason: while we had taken 1-2 day tours from our Reykjavik hotel to a number of wonderful destinations around Iceland, we had little knowledge of Reykjavik itself, and no idea how to explore it! Hence the fact that the BL tour is combined with a tour introducing the highlights of this capital city was invaluable. There were stops at: Hallgrimskirkja (Iceland’s biggest church with amazing modern architecture and 360 degree views of ocean/mountains); the famous Sun Voyager dream boat sculpture (my fav) on the sea front; the Harpa Concert Hall in the old harbor with its amazing glass front; Perlan on the hilltop; and importantly, the modest building on the waterfront, Hofdi House, where Reagan and Gorbachev met in 1986 at the Reykjavik Summit and initiated the first step towards ending the Cold War. All these stops were relatively short ones, but once oriented to the city, you can always go back on your own another time for more exploration. Also interesting were the government buildings, and the drive to BL along the coast with the small towns and endless lava fields. [Do note that this tour’s price includes the cost of the BL admission ticket + RT transportation from Reykjavik to BL.] Our guide Helga was a delight. Ours was a small group (no mass tourism here), and we were able to have lots of fun and great discussions. It felt as if we were traveling with a good friend. Interesting stories were told and shared. Questions were asked and answered. Helga is accommodating and patient, and so sweet. (She even drove back to Reykjavik the next day to return an item to us that had been inadvertently left in her car.) She is also very knowledgeable—who wouldn't jump at the chance to tour the wonders of Iceland with a Ph.D. geologist?!!! A lovely person to take a tour with. We had a fantastic time. Was so happy with this tour and our tour guide Addy. We had a fantastic and fun time. The lagoon was all and more than we hoped for. It was so beautiful.
