We enjoyed a very memorable day in Bologna with expert guide and passionate guy Mattia. He showed us the ‘better’ and ‘best’ products and explained the differences. The quality and pride that makes Bologna special came through loud and clear in his explanations. To witness the fresh egg pasta making process was also very special. In addition, we learned quite a bit of history and some very cool legends. Altogether a huge value, Mattia. Thank you so much for everything!! We highly recommend this tour. —SaraAbsolutely wonderful - the tour guide owns this business and it shows that it’s his passion and truely enjoys personally hosting every tour himself as he grew up in the area. Absolutely wonderful - the tour guide owns this business and it shows that it’s his passion and truely enjoys personally hosting every tour himself as he grew up in the area. He was incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable about sights and history in Bologna and the food the region is known for. It was a great mix of food with breaks of walking around the city and hearing it’s stories and history. A great thing about this tour is it’s always 8 people or less so it’s an intimate tour which makes it easy to ask questions about anything and everything. It was outstanding that the guide was so knowledgeable and friendly - and takes you to truely great Family run restaurants and shops. We did the morning tour (10am-2pm) which started out food wise with espresso and cappuccino with pastries, followed by a spread of all the meats you could imagine…mortadella, prosciutto, culatello, parmigiano reggiano, and salami (and wine), a balsamic vinegar tasting, watching pasta making, 3 popular types of pasta (with more wine), a warm cheese and bread snack that was amazing, and of course gelato (the really amazing gelato that’s stored in metal containers and made in house instead of those gross tourist trap mounds of artificially colored and flavored gelato). Would hands down recommend to everyone coming to Bologna. The guide does an excellent job speaking to the food, traditions, and history of Bologna on this tour. The food is excellent and the small setting perfect for an authentic, local view into the offerings of this food capital.

Choosing to do a food tour on our first day in Bologn was a great choice! Mattia was super knowledgable and friendly as a guide. He not only showed us all his local haunts but also gave some history about our surroundings as we explore. We were given some additional recommendations at the end of the tour and ended up bumping into Mattia a couple of times in the days after - which evidenced to us how genuine the tips were. Mattia informed us he runs the company himself and has been doing a job he loves for 8 years - his passion for Bologna and the food really came through! So much so, we booked onto a cooking class a few days later. Highly recommend as something to do at the start of the trip so you are informed on where best to go for an authentic experience
