Best vacation ever! We booked a tour and were escorted by Saul and Carolina. They were extremely good at their jobs. Saul drove us everywhere we wanted to go and made sure we were comfortable and safe. Carolina was very knowledgeable and informative on all subjects related to Mahahual and Mexico. They provided snacks and beer and took us on a delightful boat ride to the lagoon. Since we were on a private tour, I think we were able to better enjoy the ruins. I even saw a few of the other tourists from another large crowd trying to get closer to hear what Carolina was saying as she explained all there is to know about the ruins. We truly enjoyed our time and wished it didn't have to end. I WILL definitely book with them on our next cruise to this island.By far the BEST excursion we have had the chance to take part in--and we consider ourselves world travelers! By far the BEST excursion we have had the chance to take part in--and we consider ourselves world travelers! We were greeted in the security pen by Moises who walked us the rest of the way to where our travels began. Our tour guide was Genesis and I cannot say enough about him! We had about an hour long ride to Chacchoben and during the ride he gave us so much history and information about the Mayan culture and taught us many new words to come home with! During the ride he even stopped us by a roadside store in "Pineapple City" to try some of the best pineapple ever--honey pineapple!! We then stopped by a cemetery and saw how wonderfully decorated all the mausoleums were! When we arrived at Chacchoben, Genesis led us through the temples giving us lots of details and stopping to show the allspice tree, a tree who's bark can be used to make an alcoholic beverage, a leaf that is stronger than marijuana, and many other natural remedies. Exodus was our driver and "paparazzi" during the trip. He took awesome pictures and made sure we got to our destinations on time! Our next stop was Bacalar where we hopped on a boat to travel through the "7 color lagoon". There we got to see cenote and even got to take a 20 minute dip in the water! Oh, and we even learned a new salute for when taking shots (which we definitely did!). It goes like this: "Arriba, abajo, al Centro, y pa'dentro". From the boat ride we stopped at Taco Loco and had the best pork and fish tacos. The hour ride back to Costa Maya was quiet as we *might * have fallen asleep on the way back. I would 100% take this trip again if we ever come back to Costa Maya. These guys were literally the BEST!!!We booked this trip with Chak ek and we had our best time in our whole cruise ship journey. Our guide Lorenzo had extensive knowledge of the ruins and area and we were taken very good care by him and Moises throughout the trip. We booked this trip with Chak ek and we had our best time in our whole cruise ship journey. Our guide Lorenzo had extensive knowledge of the ruins and area and we were taken very good care by him and Moises throughout the trip. We were given water , snacks , fruits and even tequila shots which was unexpected . Do not overthink and book this trip to have a peaceful excursion with a combo tour covering two beautiful places with a Mexican lunch .Also they were courteous enough to gift us a beautiful souvenir at the end of the trip which was a nice touch . Would highly recommend this company
