For centuries Charleston has been a hub of culture, class, charm, and national history. The British settled here in 1670 and quickly established her as one of the most important cities in America. As years passed, Charleston thrived and evolved all while keeping her unique personality.
A beautiful harbor as rich in history as it is rich in breathtaking vistas. Centuries old homes kept in pristine condition by their proud residents. Cobblestone streets. One-of-a-kind shops and vendors. Charleston has it all. And we'd love to introduce her to you with a Carriage Tour experience that is classic and unique as she. Each of our tours is an hour long and covers 2-3 miles of Charleston’s residential Historic District. They are narrated by some of Charleston’s best city-licensed tour guides who are happy to share their local insight with you. Tours load and depart about every 30 minutes from our stable at 20 Anson Street.

I understand using the lottery system to divide up city areas, but if you rode again, you may get the same route. JLo (driver and horse) were good!

Our family just completed a wonderful and informative carriage tour of Charleston. We were hosted by Will and Donald and enjoyed every minute. My grandkids 9, 7 and 5 were all about Donald and enjoyed the trip,. We all felt that everyone at Charleston Carriage Works were interested in making sure we had a great time, We met the owner who is actively involved in the operation, We felt the horses were well cared for and that the whole operation was very professional. I lost an item on the tour, by my own neglect, and everyone at Charleston Carriage Works went totally our of their way to make sure we found it----and they did!!!! I would recommend Charleston Carriage Works with 6 stars if I could!!!The guide Will was knowledgeable and funny, we learned a lot! Donald the horse was sweet and did a great job too. The guide Will was knowledgeable and funny, we learned a lot! Donald the horse was sweet and did a great job too. The horses are clearly well cared for and the people who own and work for this company love Charleston and are excellent at creating a leisurely experience for new comers. They are all ready to help direct you to the nearest restrooms or ice cream parlor. The owner was present at the start and finish of the experience. Well done, highly recommended. Our tour guide was Jeff and Gary (the horse), they're the best! Jeff if wonderful because he is a SC local and teaches local history. He is full of knowledge and equally just as funny. I would recommend this company to anyone in the area looking for a carriage tour.
