His knowledge of the area, farm tour and chocolate making made for a great family trip. It was a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city and see the countryside. Went with my parents and children, great for all ages.Had a great day tour with Ninfa at her family's farm. She is so industrious having her own plot on the farm and makes her own chocolate to sell. She made the driving fun with her stories and bubbly personality. Definitely a tour you should consider when in Guayaquil.

What can we say? We took a tour with Mario to La Danesa farm and he was amazing. He picked us up early from our hotel, spent the whole day with us on the farm explaining the cocoa farming and chocolate making process, and went tubing down the river with us. Mario is extremely knowledgeable about Ecuador in general and Guayaquil in particular, and he made us Gringas feel at home. I would recommend this tour to anyone and am so thankful we met Mario. We had a great time and he made the entire day effortless. Thank you Mario!!!! I wish I could give him 10 stars! This was a great trip. This was a great trip. Tony our guide was very knowledgeable about the cacao as well as providing interesting information on the way. Rody, the chocolate entrepreneur, was passionate about the farm, the cacao fruit and the chocolate making process. We were encouraged to participate in every aspect and enjoyed a very tasty lunch at the end, prepared by Rody’s wife.We had a great time with Mario and everyone on the chocolate farm were wonderful hosts. Possibly one of the best tours we’ve ever taken. Mario puts together an amazing experience at the cocao farm where he is an extension of the family there. We began with a comfortable ride in a van while Mario provided information along our drive. He even stopped along the road to pickup bananas for our chocolate later. Because he hires a driver we were able to interact with him throughout, which was thoroughly enjoyable. At the farm we took a short tour to see the wide variety of crops they grow and animals raised for the family, which is quite large. We broke open a ripe cacao fruit and tasted the fresh seeds (you suck on them, not chew). Next we learned about and participated in the roasting and grinding of the beans. This was followed by tasting of the chocolate in various combinations with other items. We drank traditional drinks as well which were great. Next we went to see you they turn the ground chocolate into a liquid form, cool, and we made our own bars by adding fruits and other items. Finally, we enjoyed a wonderful 3 course lunch, sourced with ingredients from and around the farm and prepared with family recipes. The owner who runs the restaurant stopped by to make sure all was good and to tell us about herself and the recipes. Mario clearly works to provide a premium tour and works hard to make sure we all enjoyed. This particular tour is one of his passions as he has a history with cacao farming. I would highly recommend any tour he offers!
