Stop At: Norfolk Island, Norfolk Island
This factual yet fun dinner theatre is a great way to learn about Norfolk’s history. The cast of actors will take you on an entertaining journey back in time. Listen to the Commandants’ stories about the notorious Convict Settlements on Norfolk Island and how the convicts were treated by sadists and reformers alike.
Listen to a chilling recall of one of the infamous rebellions. Marvel at how the Commandants and their families adapted to life in a Norfolk Island penal colony, recreating a little piece of England in the Pacific. Explore their great challenges, impressive successes and shameful secrets.
Our venue has created a special three-course dinner menu of traditional English fare to compliment the theatrical setting. Hearty, wholesome, British tucker - fortunately prepared by free men in a modern kitchen not a poor convict over a wood stove!
The Commandants’ Dinner is a night of great entertainment, delectable food and loads of fun. Make it a “must” for your itinerary!!

Good entertainment and well paced throughout the evening. A good way of incorporating a bit of history with light entertainment and frivolity. However as for the set up of tables, we were squeezed in in rows and when it came to using our cutlery, most people had to pull their elbows tightly into the bodies because you were bumping the guests on either side of you. Also the venue had insufficient ceiling fans and unless you are from the tropics and are accustomed to the humidity, it certainly can cause health related issues especially to the older folkA most enjoyable night with three commandant's of a bygone era entertaining us with Norfolk Island's past history and the role they played in that time. Unfortunately the room was very hot - no air-conditioning and few fans - which was a shame. Worth attending, though not inexpensive.

We went to the Commandants dinner two weeks ago to learn more of Norfolk’s fascinating history and of course for the dinner. We had no idea how incredibly funny the 3 Commandants and the hostess would be. The humour was adult but not over the line. It was obvious these people had been doing it for years and the jokes and jibes between them just kept coming, and we learned a lot about the history too. Lines were muddled but such was the chemistry and ad libbing that it just got funnier. A must for Norfolk Island, but expect some good natured swearing, and bring your sense of humour…it was a delight and I’ll certain if history was taught the ways these guys did, all the kids in class would be listening. We enjoyed this show on our last night of a week long stay on Norfolk Island.
