Stop At: The Goolwa Barrage, Barrage Road, Goolwa, South Australia Australia
Our Adventure Cruise departs from the Main Wharf in the old river port town of Goolwa.
Cruise to the Goolwa Barrage, through the lock and into the Coorong National Park to view the mouth of the River Murray.
Stop At: Coorong National Park, Meningie, South Australia 5264 Australia
From the mouth the cruise heads into the pristine waters of the Coorong, past the spectacular white sand dunes and birdlife, as your captain provides an informative and entertaining commentary on the passing scenes, bird life and history of the area.
Stop At: Younghusband Peninsula, Coorong SA 5264, Australia
Disembark for a guided walk through the sand dunes of the Younghusband Peninsula to the undisturbed white sandy beaches of the Great Southern Ocean. Along the walk your guide will talk about the cockle industry here, the sand dune flora and fauna and how the Aboriginal people lived in the area.
Stop At: Ewe Island, Coorong SA 5264, Australia
A delicious lunch of cold meats and salads is served with tea or coffee (special meals are available by prior request – vegetarian, gluten free etc) as the cruise continues deeper into the Coorong waterway. As you pass the Ewe Island and Tauwitchere Barrages, that separate the estuary Coorong from fresh water Lake Alexandrina, your captain will explain the man-made barrage and lock system that extends along the River Murray and tell you of the associated benefits and environmental impacts.
Deep into the Coorong, at Cattle Point, walk with your guide into the sand dunes again to learn more about the Aboriginal occupation of the area, see the middens left around their old campsites and discover fresh water as the Aboriginals did.
Afternoon tea is served as the cruise returns past the imposing sand dunes and back through the lock to the Goolwa Wharf where the cruise ends.

What an amazing day, we were lucky enough to see the start of the Vovalong celebrations which was just fabulous. Clearly both Michael and Tia (hope that is spelt correctly) know their stuff, so to speak. The information provided leaving the Goolwa Wharf was great and it continued throughout the day. How fabulous to see so many swans, pelicans and other birds along the way. Clearly for me the best was the cheeky seal perched upon the Goolwa Barrage, seemingly waving at us as we went through the lock, little scamp!! The first stop of the day was for those who wanted to try for pipe's aka cockles before heading back to the boat where they were cooked and eaten by many. Everyone said that they were sensational. Tia's knowledge of the many plants and their uses was really great. Lunch was great, I forgot to mention that I am vegetation however I was able to enjoy my meal. Next stop was walking through the sand dunes watching Michael dig for water, which he of course found and many sampled. The return journey was lovely and we again saw many of the local wildlife was so enjoyable. My only negative was that the original provided stated that drinks were included which they were not. Having said that I did love the day.A very interesting and informative day cruise. A great day to relax sit back and enjoy the beauty of the Coorong. Great crew and very enjoyable lunch. Would certainly recommend.

The day started well with very good weather, sunny and cool in the morning. The captain is very experienced, thus, he knows the waters and history of the areas very well. The captain in training (Murphy) was very attentive to the needs of the passengers on board. Enjoyed the walks and the nature. We saw seals, kangaroos, emus and heaps of different species of birds. Fantastic time!Just a great day out, a very professional and knowledgeable Captain and an enthusiastic crew. Excellent local knowledge of the area, the history and the wildlife that we saw.
